Question about Acer Extensa 503T Notebook

The back cover of my Acer Extensa 5220 laptop is cracked

The back cover of my Acer Extensa 5220 laptop screen is cracked just above the right hinge. This is affecting picture quality. There are faint horizontal lines across the entire screen. I also can no longer move the laptop around as the screen turns fuzzy. Is this something easily fixed? Or is it better to just buy a new laptop?

Hi. Thanks for the prompt response. Could you tell me what the specific parts required are? And how a novice could get hold of instructions to replace?

It would cost about $100-200 for parts.

That doesn't include the repair time. For me it would take about 10-15 minutes.

For a novice about 1-2 hours.

That's the jest of it.

New laptops $200-400 for decent rigs.

It's hard to say without looking at it in person.

The easiest way to do it is to just purchase the lcd complete from eBay. Otherwise you'll just end up with a daunting task.

As far as instructions go...I have no idea. I've never used guides before. I just pay real close attention to what I'm doing. If you look carefully at the laptop you should be able to figure it out.

But if you really want a guide, I'd suggest posting a new question with that in mind.

    best of luck

I need instructions for installing Acer keyboard a2797.001

I'm not sure which model Acer you have but the pic of the keyboard looks simular to the Acer Extensa or TravelMate series laptops. If so, there's a plastic cover just above the keyboard, but under the screen that covers the display hinge. Open the display fully and gently pry up on the hinge cover. Then slide the horizontal bar next to the opening about a quarter of an inch and lift it off. You should then be abl to pry up on the keyboard to remove it.

Acer laptop crack at the back of LCD near the hinges.

In my experience, I have been able to replace the LCD Bezel to fix the crack. You can order this from any online parts store if you are a Do-It-Yourself type or any computer support company could help. Good Luck

Acer extensa 5420 - crack on lid near both hinges....lid hinges seem tight causing strain and causing crack. Laptop is 9 months old...Is the fix/replacement covered under warranty?

Anything cosmetic is never covered under warrany unless there is a recall from the company and I don't remember hearing any recalls from Acer recently.

Only thing I can suggest is to get a hold of Acer and explain the situation and see if threre was or is a recall on your model.

My best solution, go to this page:
https://secure2.tx.acer.com/FixMyAcer3/FixMyAcer.aspx

Either fill out the form or call the number and see what they can do.

Let me know what they say and If they can't help at all then there is other routes we can try to take to keep costs down.
