HOW TO FIX ERROR CODE 094-534

Make Sure the Paper Trays Are Configured With the Correct Paper Size, Type, and Color

To configure settings for Paper Trays 1 and 2
  1. Open the paper tray.
  2. Make sure that the required paper stock is loaded in the paper tray, and that the paper edge guides are adjusted properly to fit the size of the paper.
  3. Close the paper tray. The Printer Settings screen will be displayed on the Touch Screen.
  4. Select [Size], and then select the size of paper loaded in the tray. If this is a standard size paper, the correct size will be selected automatically if the paper guides are adjusted correctly. If necessary, select [Custom] to enter the paper size if the required size is not displayed and then enter the required X and Y values.
  5. Select [Save].
  6. Select [Type], and then select the type of paper loaded in the tray.
  7. Select [Color], and then select the color of paper loaded in the tray.
  8. Select [Confirm].

Red light flashes, screen says "load correct paper: A4." The paper is alreay loaded. I cannot print.

When <LOAD CORRECT PAPER> appears on the display, the size of the paper in the paper cassette or multipurpose tray is different from that of the paper specified in <PAPER SIZE> for <CASSETTE> or <MP TRAY>. You need to load the correct size paper or change the paper size in <PAPER SIZE> for <CASSETTE> or <MP TRAY>.
Check if the size of paper loaded in the paper cassette or multi-purpose tray meets the paper setting specified in the machine.

check the following:
1. The paper size specified on the printer driver screen
2. Paper loaded in the machine
3. The paper size set in <PAPER SIZE> for <CASSETTE> or <MP TRAY>

Check paper size casset :LTR

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} This is a nice unit by Canon, but a pity about its poor firmware recovery from a simple situation. For example if you print to it from Outlook -your Outlook (being American, -Microsoft) will likely default to "letter" whereas if you live in UK you will have A4 paper installed.
OOPS !....Canon can't come from this and flags up a red LED and "Incorrect paper size" that you can't easily get round...there is no simple 'over-ride' like in HP products.

I rang Canon Support UK - completely idiotic waste of time. The tecky got out the manual and after 5 mins. said 'have you aligned the printheads'!!! Dah.... I said 'this is a laser machine' - silence.
Five minutes of shuffling paper then he says "Ah yes I have the answer..I will email it to you". This is what he emailed...

"Set the paper size setting to, or and load paper of the same size. For the TX report or RX report, the machine automatically prints the reports or lists which has stored in memory"

Apart from the inane grammar, this is the most stupid technical response I have had in a loooooong time.
I then asked if there is a user reset capability by pressing the control panel buttons on the machine. "No" was the answer.

Moral of the story...like so many Technical Support Depts. nowadays, dont waste your money on a phone call.

Here is the way to fix the problem.... ( which I gleaned from an Australian website and my own slight mods..)

YES you can do a RESET from the unit's Control Panel buttons....CANON TECH SUPPORT PLEASE TAKE NOTE.

Power up with COPY button pressed, and before red LED starts flashing. Release the COPY button.
Press MENU and release.
Press # and release.
press -< key to get following display on screen
# CLEAR

press OK and it now shows......
# clear Tel & User Data

Press -< to get following display on screen
#clear
ALL

press OK and it shows "please wait" and after 30 seconds it initialises and you can hear it resetting motors etc..

Problem is solved; red LED is no more and ready for business.

NB.... to avoid recurrance of this problem... go to your PC and in Outlook, change the default paper settings as follows.....
with Inbox on screen, go File,Page Setup, Memo Style, Paper etc.

NB again,
you can see from the Control Panel keystrokes on the printer as outlined above - there is alot of functionality for other problems that you can try to eliminate.

Best of luck and no thanks to Canon UK tech support.

Hope that helps
