It won't drain? Is the tank draining? Is the water turned off? Or is it just plugged up?

Depends on whether you have the single push button flush - or the dual flush mechanism.

If you have the old style single push button, you are best to change the centre column as it's probably past it's sell by date.

If you have the newer style crescent shaped dual flush buttons follow the instructions below:

Most common problems are:

Green & Grey rods are broken that connect the buttons to the flushing mechanism - if so you can temporary fix by using wooden dowels of the right length.

The following are common wear & tear and normally mean you need to replace:

Clasps at the top of the the flush valve 'snap off'. Stops the plunger being lifted up which renders the flush useless.

Side clips that hold adjustable top ratchet 'snap off'. Makes the button loose at the top and stops enough pressure being being applied to the flush mechanism.

Spare parts for Villeroy & Boch can be purchased here:

Hope this helps.

P.S. You can also send them pictures of parts not listed.

SOURCE: Flush valve drops before bowl completes flush

is the flapper weighted? if it is it will cause it to shut prematurely. one thing you can do is increase the water in the tank. you might have to buy a pvc cuppler to put on the over flow to allow it to fill up more. korky makes a nice flapper thats not weighted

Try checking the water pressure. If it has dropped too low then the valve will never re-seat properly. Ideally over 90 psi.

After flush the system must close the hole which lets water into the toilet. If it does not close after flush, it is continuously letting the water thru. Check if it closes after flush and allows tank to fill.

Uberhaus dual flush toilet keeps running

The flapper may not be seating properly after a flush. Even though you say the toilets are brand new, something may be askew in the flushing assembly or may have been affected during installation

I've had a saniplus toilet system (with toilet and sink) for about 10 years. Suddenly stopped working as well. The macerator pump runs in shorter bursts and the water level in the toilet goes down

You should check the 1 1/2" vent pipe if there is one attached to the top of the pump casing. The vent pipe must be vented to the open air, outside of the house so the unit can breath air in and out at all times. A lack of airflow usually creates this type of problems. Leave the vent connection open to the room and flush the toilet, you will see the difference when pumping.

I own a doctor's office. All of the toilets (tankless systems) in the building (total of 6) suddenly began flushing simultaneously...Our plumber/maintenance guy has no clue what to do. It is too cold...

Tankless toilets have a shutoff located behind the chrome cap on the flushvalve. The valve looks like a screw. Adjust the screw either clockwise or clockwise until the unit stops flushing. Someone is messing with your plumbing.

Are there concerns with toilets which have a lower water tank height to fill the toilet bowl when efficient flushing is needed?

I would say that there are no concerns that are not a concern with most of the new toilets of today, regardless of tank size it should always be designed to hold more than 1.6 gallons of water. The key is to find a toilet with the largest flush flapper as you can allowing all of the water to be used quickly and effectively. hope this helps.

If there is a shower in the same bath is it also draining slowly?
If so check that drain systems air vent, (on the roof).
Find the pipe coming out of the roof nearest the bathroom with the problem and when a second person flushes the toilet you should be able to feel
air moving in and out of the pipe with your hand covering the end. If not the vent could be blocked by leaves or animals etc., this vent has to be clear in order for water to drain properly.

When you flush, the bowl refills and then suddenly empties 90% of the refilled water. Why? This is a toto toilet and this happens almost all the time now.

it sounds like it is not flushing completely at first and then releases and the suction is pulling water out of the bowl. Could be a venting issue or a clog issue that is hindering the proper flushing of the toilet.
