The Miller 212 has a 60% duty cycle. So for every ten minutes of welding the machine is designed to weld for 6 min and cool down for 4 min.

What will cause my welding generator to start up at full rpm and not idle down?

Check the governor unit. Miller is a good make, shouldn't be a problem downloading a manual.

Why does my miller bobcat welder generator not stay at an idle when swithed to low idle, insted it goes back and forth to high then to low idle?

The unit may need recalibrating the idle/run setting. Instructions found in manual at 8-6 (subaru engine) and 9-5 (kohler). Idle speed around 2200rpm. Simple screw adjustment. PDF manual here :- http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o4434l_mil.pdf

What is wrong with the idle on my welder? the switch works , it idles up when I switch it on high and it idles down when I switch it down but it wont go up when I strike an arc or use power tools, what...

There is something wrong with the auto load sensing switch which is part of the generator. That is the sensor that detects when current load from the generator drops as in when you strike an arc or turn on a power tool and cranks the throttle to full power. It is obviously working on manual because the manual switch is cranking the revs up so the solenoid that operates the throttle is ok. My advice is to take it to a service centre that deals in welder/generator sets as you are playing with dangerous voltages and may possibly damage the machine by tinkering with it or fry yourself (nasty)

Hi there I have a lincoln SA-200 welder and was wondering why my idle won't rev up when I use my grinder it's idles great when welding and idles down fine (well after I added a stronger spring on the idle...

Is the idle controlled electrically or with vacuum? Have you inspected the Idle circuit? The carburetor will increase the engines speed when you create a load and then bring the machine back down to an idle when no load is detected. I think you may be describing the electrical version. If so, check for blown fuses and if you are familiar with low voltage and high voltage hazards and know how to safely work on this type of machine then I would check the related wiring. The solenoid, controlling the actuation, check it for power, ground, and operation. Please look into this and let me know what you found. The more information you can give the better. Good luck.

Why will my miller 250 will not idle down

There should be a selector switch where you start the machine. If you have this switch selected to idle and it still doesn't idle down after a few seconds of unloading the generator then you probably have a short in the switch tricking the generator into thinking it's under a load. Any spike in amperage or load will cause the generator to idle up.

My bobcat 225g runs full bore all the time, I thought it would idle then when you strike an arc it would pick up speed,

A welder does not speed up when an arc is struck. It is normal for a gas welder to stay at a high rpm. If it did not, it would be very hard on the machine as a high amperage is needed to start an arc for welding, and to be consistant. Unlike a generator which will "idle down" when not in use.

My Lincoln SA 200 welder will not rev up when I strike an arc.

Need code number to be exact, but sounds like the wiring to the current transformer is incorrect.
