Question about GE Profile PFS22SBSS Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator

1 Answer

Fridge works but doesn't isn't cooling

Accidentally left the left side door open last night. Came down this morning and the fridge temp was 56 (recommended 37) and the freezer was -7 (recommended 0). Shut the door, left for the day, returned 5+ hours later to find nothing had changed.
Now compressor doesn't seem to be running at all.

Freezer is frosting and refrigerator is warm.

As far as your freezer frosting up, sounds like a door seal problem, run your fingers along the seam of the door seal, there should be no splits/holes in the seal.
As far as the refrigerator either there is a secondary fan motor, or there is a obstruction blocking the air movement, if the freezer has a bad seal, its suspect ice is still building up.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp. The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

This is by design. It should be warm. This is where the heat exchanger is located to save space.

No worries.... right now it is being over-worked until it reaches operating temp.

I turned the fridge side off on mine, and left it overnight (last night!). This morning there is frozen stuff in the freezer. I think the compressor motor just needed ALOT of time to cool down b4 it would work properly again

Vegetables in crispe are freezing

Check for blockage of the damper door which regulates airflow from the freezer into the fridge. It might have gotten some ice buildup there while the freezer door was open.

The sensor on that unit is probably near the door. This happens a lot on Walk in coolers/freezers also. As long as the temp goes back down in a few minutes, the unit is ok.
