Clean the toner cartridges copper contacts then clean the part where the cartridges sit and while the printer is powered on pull out the power cable from the wall as well as the printer and wait for 30 seconds then reconnect the power cable into the wall socket and then into the printer and re-insert the cartridges and wait and see if the error comes up.
if it still does then I hope you are not using refilled cartridges If you are then your printer may have gone bad.
Try changing the cartridges and check the expiry date if it is beyond expiry that is another problem why you are getting that error.
If the above mentioned fails replace the toners and then check if you still face this issue you need to replace your printer

Our Brother HL4040CN is saying "drum error slide the green tab on drum unit in each color" How do you do this

The green tab referred to on the drum unit slides a thin wire across the drum to scrape off any built-up toner that has accumulated.

To do this, first open the door to access the toner/drum cartridges (it's the same door you'd open to replace a spent cartridge). Remove one of the cartridges; the inside of the door will have a sticker illustrating the exact steps to do this. Once you've removed a cartridge, look to the end that is inserted first when installing it (the end opposite the one grasped to remove the cartridge). You should see a small green tab here. Slide it left and right several times to clear away any blockage. For good measure, vigorously shake the cartridge side to side to evenly redistribute the remaining toner evenly inside the cartridge. Replace the cartridge and repeat these steps for each one remaining.

If you still get an error after following these steps, remove each cartridge and shake it extra vigorously for at least 10 seconds. Sometimes the toner can clump inside the cartridge, causing the printer to interpret it as a blockage. This is especially likely to occur if you live in an area with a humid environment.

How do I slide the green toner tabs?

1. power down the printer.
2. remove all color cartridges from their slots.
3. inside the color slot, you will see a green slide that will not move until you pick up the plastic cover (it is the full length of the cartridge holder).
4. rotate the plastic cover forward.
5. slide the green slide 3 or 4 times. (DO NOT TOUCH SMALL WIRES!)
6. return slide to original position.
7. snap the plastic cover back in place
8. return each color cartridge to it's slot.
9. replace color cartridge holder back to printer.
10. close all covers
11. turn printer back on.

If you still get the "move green slide" error, just repeat these steps

This took me about 10 minutes for the process, after understanding what the "green slide" meant.

There is a massage in red that reads drum error

Brotherstrongly recommends that customers do not use generic drum units and/or tonercartridges, or refill their Brother toner cartridge. Each Brother laser printeris designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each ofour individual toner formulations. Each individual component is designedto work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brothersupplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality, and machinereliability. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that iscaused by the use of unauthorized third party drum units, toner cartridges, ortoner. Turn off the printer power switch. Press thefront cover release button and then open the front cover. Hold the green handle ofthe drum unit. Lift the drum unit up and then pull it out until it stops. Hold the handle of thetoner cartridge and pull it out of the drum unit. Repeat this for all the tonercartridges.
    • I recommend that you place the toner cartridge on a clean, flat surface with a piece of disposable paper underneath it in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.
    • DO NOT put a toner cartridge into a fire. It could explode, resulting in injuries.
    • Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, wipe or wash it off with cold water at once.
    • To avoid print quality problems, DO NOT touch the shaded parts shown in the illustrations.
Push to release thelatches of the white corona wire cover (1), and then open the cover. Clean the corona wireinside the drum unit by gently sliding the green tab from left to right andright to left several times. Be sure to return thetab to the home position (1). If you do not, printed pages may have avertical stripe. Close the corona wirecover. Repeat steps 4-6 to clean each ofthe remaining corona wires. Hold the handle of the toner cartridge and slide the toner cartridgeinto the drum unit. Make sure that you match the toner cartridge color to thesame color label on the drum unit, and make sure that you fold down the tonercartridge handle (1) once the toner cartridge is in place. Repeat this for allthe toner cartridges. Put the drum unit backin the printer. Close the front cover ofthe printer.

Drum error message how do i fix that

You need to open the front cover of the machine and remove the cartridge( drum and toner).

On the top right there is a tab that you need to slide from left to right about 20 times, then bring back to home position.

Then reinstall the drum and toner.

If you are still getting the same error message, try the same procedure as above then this time blow into the area ( where you slid the tab),

If you still have the same error, you should replace the drum.

E020 01BO What does this error code mean?

E020 indicates a Black Toner malfunction. If you've recently changed the toner and failed to distribute the toner by gently shaking it from side to side, this could be the cause of this error or if the toner is very low it could trigger the same error.
01B0 is a drum error related to your toner error message. If toner cartridge is good, remove the cartridge, clean the drum, replace the cartridge and both errors should clear. A dirty drum will also trigger your 1st error e020.

Toner cartridge wont come out.

Try removing the corresponding drum unit below it first. If you remove the waste toner bottle you will then be able to pull down the plastic handle and drop the small door that covers the four drum units. Try and remove only the same colour as the problem toner first. Now try and push the toner back in and then remove it. After, slide the drum unit back in. Good luck

Brother 4070 CDW Drum Unit Error

The green tabs that you have to slide are under the color cartridges, so remove the three color cartridges and you will see three green tabs, to slide the tab across the wire you have to first open the translucent plastic wire cover, then slide the green tab across the wires and return it to it's original position, close the wire covers, replace the color cartridges, and reassemble the printer. All the Best

Hp 4550 vertical line down center of page

From the service manual:

Vertical lines or streaks
Check for a leak where light might be entering the printer.
Check for circumferential scars on the photosensitive drum. If scars are present, replace the
drum cartridge if the line goes through all colors.
Check for circumferential scars on the upper fusing roller. If scars are present, replace the upper
fusing roller if the line goes through all colors.
Remove the imaging drum and inspect main charger or imaging drum for a contaminant, such as
a fiber, if the line goes through all colors.
CAUTION Do not expose the imaging drum to light for more than 15 seconds. The drum is light sensitive, and
exposure to light can cause permanent damage.
Vertical black lines
 The toner cartridge is defective.
The toner cartridge is not seated properly.
 The fuser entrance is dirty.
The fuser has scratches on it.
This might be a repetitive defect. If so, the lines will repeat at a consistent interval down the page.
The printer needs to be cleaned.
There is a problem in the heating element.
Vertical white lines
If white lines or streaks appear only in the black areas of the printed media, print several
configuration pages to clear the anomaly. If this does not clear the problem, check the sleeve
surface to confirm the defect, then replace the black toner cartridge.
If white lines appear only in a particular color, try printing several configuration pages to clear the
error. If the error does not clear, check the sleeve surface to confirm the defect, then replace the
defective toner cartridge.
There is a lack of toner or the toner cartridge is faulty.
There is dirt in the laser path.
 The fuser is defective.
