Open clam-shell type case by pushing buttons on rear top and rear bottom of case and pulling case open like a book. Once case is opened, you\'ll see the hard drive in the right half (as viewed from the back of the PC) Pull the power and data cable from back of the hard drive. Squeeze ends of green plastic slides and pull hard drive from enclosure.

How to Replace a Hard Drive in a Dell Computer Tower?

You need the model of the Tower to be more specific but here is the general instructions:
  1. Locate how to OPEN the Tower and search for a drive that looks like photo
  2. Unplug the cables
  3. Note if you are replacing the drive because it's damaged you may have to order the Operating Disks from the Manufacture if they still offer it.
  4. Or just start fresh and install an operating system find all the drivers on your own.

How do I fix a problem were a tower computer won't see the slave hard drive.

It sounds like both drives are trying to be the master on the cable. Have you tried setting both drives jumpers to the CABLE SELECT setting. This allows the BIOS to individually identify them and you specify in the BIOS which is the primary boot drive.

My p c tower was turned over now it will not work

First check your cables. Are all the internal cables tight (especially the ones connected to the hard drive)? If this computer has SATA connections, try moving the SATA connector to a different port on the computer. If all of these fail, try a different cable (a new one or removed the one from the optical (DVD) drive if it is the same as the hard drive). If this fails it is more than likely you have had a hard drive crash and will have to purchase a new hard drive. Keep in mind the new hard drive will be completely blank. You will have to reinstall your OS and software.

When i turn on y tower on it says error loading operating system what do i do to fix this problem please help

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If this does not work then reboot and go to theBIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn'tdetect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Next - to determine if thehard drive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an external hard drive and you cannot open the various folders and files, this confirms the hard drive is faulty. The hard drive needs to bereplaces in the computer and Windows installed and the Dell's device driversand your programs etc to get a functioning Dell computer again.

The small form-factor and small desktop systems support a single enhanced integrated drive electronics (EIDE) hard drive in the hard drive bay; the small mini-tower system supports two EIDE hard drives.

2000 pc tower , how to remove hard drive

1. Remove a side panel from the computer tower.
2. Hard drive removal: Look down to the Hard Drive section of this link and you should find some detailed instructions.

You will probably just need a phillips screwdriver to get the job done. Maybe a pair of small pliers depending on how tight the cables are connected. The amount of finesse you use is dependent upon if you want to reuse the drive or computer.

Need to replace the hard drive

Very easy to do. You will need an antistatic wrist strap. Unscrew the screw/thumb screws on the side of the case which slides off. slide the case door off, connect your anti static wrist strap to you and a metal part of the case, to ensure you are grounded and don't fry any parts. Check what sort of hard disk your motherboard supports, it could be IDE or Sata. Older ones use IDE. Get a hard disc to match and plug it in where your old hard drive was. The hard drive is probably held in by clips or screws. remove them and place the new hard drive in the hard drive bays. Wire it up. You will need to install an operating system on your new hard drive. This can be done by getting a windows boot cd, entering the bios on startup by hitting the delete or f12 key/ the specified key. Then in the bios go to boot device priority set it to CD. Then reboot and it will install it on your new hard drive. Hope that helps.
