SOURCE: removing chuck from Makita 64C1 drill

secure the short end of an allen wrench in the chuck, making sure it is as tight as possoble. Useing a wood or hard rubber mallet strick the long end of the allen wrench so it turns counter-clockwise. This should loosen the chuck from the spindle enough that you can unscrew it by hand.

Hey! I have a problem with the 2015 Makita DDF482, it works, but it smells like burning wires or something like that, listening how drill works, the turns seem to fluctuate. What could be the problem?

The smell of burning /ozone could be something as simple as a dirty commutator. The carbon brushes are worn out and do not make good contact with the copper in the commutator, this produces the excessive sparks at the back of the drill, the carbon builds up and sparks as the drill turns and give the peculiar smell. Try cleaning the drill vents and commutator, oil, grease, dust, solvent, etc are a NO! NO! in this area, if that does not improve, change the brushes. Buy good quality replacements and clean the whole area again before replacing them. Bear in mind the new brushes will need to "bed in" so don't despair if at first you see some sparks. Assuming there is nothing really wrong with the drills electronics (it is relatively new drill), the fluctuation in RPMs could be a combination of the worn out brushes and/or depleted battery pack. Depending on the charge/ discharge cycles the battery pack has undergone, it could be that some NiCd batteries do not fully charge or hold their charge for long. The result is that as the drill operates at a lower voltage than rated and with fewer amps available, the battery pack struggles to deliver the power needed to turn the motor, so you notice some fluctuation. Does the drill struggle to drill through thin metal? Does it get stuck? There is a possible answer
Check the lubrication of the planetary gears assembly, poor lubrication/ dry grease will further load the motor, making it run slower.
Hope this helps you resolve the issues

My Makita drill stops spinning mid drill and starts again whilst stopped it makes a horrible grinding noise. Can anyone tell me what is causing this? And how do I fix it?

as with any power tool there are gears attached and when things are used they wear . the stopping might be a dirty connection . and being under the load when it stops puts much more stress on the moving parts .you could open it and grease it goos , cleaning the contacts at the same time but sooner or later it will go again ,and possibly never restart .

I have a makita Hammer drill # 6914D model 527047E looks like it is need of some oil what kind. The glass window is empty can you help me tried to find a manual but cannot.

Go to the below site for a manual. There isn't any reference to a glass window in the manual but the tool does need to be regreased as indicated in the manual, especially if it's used frequently. If you do it yourself, pay close attention to how much grease you put in the tool. Too much grease causes excessive drag and makes the motor work harder.

You can find an owner's manual and parts breakdown on Makita's website:

Drill will not turn but will you can here a grinding sound. Drill will turn when done by hand. Drill has not been run for over three years.

The gears are worn out, take it apart to verify. They need to be washed out with mineral spirits and greased if okey, otherwise they wear out the gears

Is there any internal lubrication needed on the 6221D steel 3/8 model

If this is a Makita Brand, you can use Bosch Grease part number 1615430005. About $6.00 for 45ml tube.

Makita 8406C Gearbox oil

It uses grease to lube the gearbox. makita supply their own grease so you should be able to get a small tube from your local dealer. You don't have to use Makita grease though, just general grease should be fine. Not too thick and heavy, or too oily and light. I know that sounds a bit vague. Do you have other machines that you have grease for? SDS hammer drills, saws, any small power tool like that will use a similar type of grease.
