I've already tried drivers but unsure if they were correct. Also, the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard is clean and secure.

Well, 'the mouse' in the middle can be turned on and off, check for that.

The keys may have 'stuff' dropped-down there interferring. press the keys around them down and blow canned-air in there...

HP/Compaq 8510p laptop, 5, 6, ?, and apostrophe not working. Also the little blue mouse in the middle of the keyboard not working. Everything else works. I ideas anyone?

Find instructions how to disassemble the keyboard, and check the plug or cable. Also make sure there is no debris in the keyboard under the keys. If these things don't work, you can find a replacement keyboard which would not be expensive.

Power-on password on hp 8510p

Power On Password & Hard Disk Password
With your next laptop you should protect it with a Power On Password AND put a password on your hard disk. This will stop anyone from using your laptop and if they move the hard disk from your laptop to another laptop they cannot access the data on your hard disk with the hard disk password.
BUT you need to write down or remember these passwords; if you lose or forget them you cannot gain access to your laptop.
There are no backdoor passwords to remove these passwords.
To set up or change these passwords, go to the BIOS configuration - then security configuration. http://techtips.salon.com/reset-hp-laptop-bios-password-1476.html

I have a Hp wireless multimedia keyboard and mouse. My computer crashed. mouse keyboard are not working ctrl, alt, delete does nothing. I had to manually shut it down and lose what I was working on. When I...

no computer , nor OS stated. OS= operating system.
no mouse model number either, but is some wireless mouse and battery dead. sure.
why not plug in a wired USB mouse, and use that,
that ALWAYS works , and has NO BATTERY.
keep one handy at all times just like this, battery dies
use it, and save you files first. no reason at all to lose data.ever.
there are hot keys too that will save the fails, and exit.
learn them at MS dot com, or ask but if KBD is dead
then use a wired USB keyboard and or mouse.

I'm betting the battery is long gone dead. as ALL DO.

is this some old XP PC? running XP Os.
good luck if that is the case, (its a virus magnet, and may be why the mouse dont work)

Microsoft Wireless Mouse and Windows Vista

I'm having pretty much the same problem with my Microsoft Wireless 4000 mouse and my hp-compaq 8510p laptop. If I shut my machine down, or restart, my mouse no longer works. I have to uninstall/reinstall the Intellipoint software. The synaptics touch pad continues to work, but the mouse fails.
