Question about Washing Machines

Washing machine spins but won't drain!!

I have an older model washing machine that is doing everything right, except it won't drain. The timer runs through each cycle, including spin, but the water just stays in it.

From reading other posts, I assumed there was a clog in the drain line or pump. That theory started looking bad when I realized the water will drain by gravity if I just lower the drain hose, then was disproved when I detached the various hoses and found them to be clean.

The pump does not have it's own motor, it is run by the same belt that runs the agitator, making one big triangle. The belt seems fine, and as I said before the washer runs through all of its cycles without a problem. The impeller housing is clear plastic, and I can actually see the impeller turning in the unit so I know it is trying to do what it is supposed to do.

I thought I could sort of jump start with gravity by laying the hose down as the pump ran. Water ran out while the hose was low, but as soon as I picked it up it would stop. Any suggestions would be great! This has been frustrating for me to say the least. Thanks!

Washing machine washes then will not spin HELP HELP dirty clothes

When you set "the timer to drain and spin only". After "drain" program finished - not pump or motor sound or all sound stoped, the machine is freeze?

The meaning is sometimes, the sensor of water level doesn't working properly. The "drain" program is keeping running.

Kenmore washer 80 series does not drain

When your washing machine won't drain, it could be as simple as a kinked hose or as complicated as a faulty impeller on the pump. Here are some steps to help you determine the problem and solution:

1. Pinched hose: Is the drain hose at the back of the washer been flattened or twisted in any area? A pinched hose could prevent the water from draining thoroughly. Gently straighten the hose, and make sure there is sufficient room between the back of the washing machine and the wall to prevent a repeat of the problem.

2. Clogged drain hose or pump: Does the drum spin normally, but the washing machine won't drain the water? Sometimes a piece of clothing, money, fabric or other debris gets into the water between the inner and outer tub. It may then make its way into a drain hose or even into the pump itself. The farther into the machinery a clog goes, the trickier it can be to remove. Call a repair professional for help.

3. Faulty timer: Does your machine fill with water and begin agitating, but the cycle never advances far enough to allow the water to drain? The timer that controls the cycles may be broken. Arrange for washing machine repair service.

4. Worn or loose belts: Are clothes still soaked at the end of a wash, even though the washing machine appears to go through the spin and drain cycles? The timer that controls the cycles may be broken. This is a job for the pros.

5. Faulty or jammed internal impeller on pump: When the spin cycle starts, do you hear a humming noise? The internal impeller that moves the water through the drain pump may be faulty or jammed. A grinding or grating sound is almost always an indication of a coin, button or other object colliding with the impeller. Have a washing machine repair expert determine if the impeller is jammed and can be cleared, or if the pump needs to be replaced.

6. Pump failure: Is your washing machine more than 7 years old? Your pump may simply have worn out. Even if it sounds as though it is running, the pump may not be working well enough to draw the water out of the machine. Replacement parts for pumps are generally unavailable. A new pump may be necessary.

Washing machine won't drain

When your washing machine won't drain, it could be as simple as a kinked hose or as complicated as a faulty impeller on the pump. Overloading your washing machine can cause items to be swept into the space between the inner and outer tub, leading to clogs in the drain hose or pump. These clogs may be the reason for why your washing machine won't drain.
