Question about Singer 1120 Mechanical Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Singer sewing machine model 1120 - I need a vertical thread spool holder. Where can I get one and where do I put it on the machine?

Some thread spools are wound in a way that they need a vertical thread spool holder. I would like to find a vertical holder and instructions on how to install it on my machine.

You can download your manual directly from singer. It has illustrated instructions. Go to http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html and put your model number (1120) in the search box. This will bring you to the download page.
I've included an image of the page on threading your machine below:

SOURCE: how do i replace the spool pin on my singer sewing

Two ways.. either put the new spool pin in the other extra hole to the left of the trap door on top OR take out the two bigger screws on the top cover that hold it in, also take off the knobs on the front sliders (patters selection) and remove the top over. Push the old pin out from the inside with nail or something simila and replace.. simple. Do you have an extra spool pin you can share?

Hi the spool holder on this machine is just a plastic rod with a slight taper and it just pushes into the hole. If the old piece is broken off in the hole, drill a very small hole in the centre of the broken piece and screw in a small wood-screw and pull it out with a pair of pliers

How to remove broken horizontal spool pin of Singer Sewing machine model 6550 and replace with new spool pin?

It appears to be just "hooked" on according to the photo, and you can get the replacement part for $4.00 using this link: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/spool-pin-singer-3709-sewing-machine.aspx.

However, before you go to all that trouble, you can also just use the auxiliary spool pin used for twin needle sewing which came with your machine but can be purchased from the same site for about the same price.

I don't use either -- I just put the spool in a cup behind the machine and thread from there. See? One way or another, you're back in business!

How to thread singer model #AJ953185 sewing machine

To thread the upper thread of the sewing machine, place your spool on the spool holder. Then work from right to left after turning the hand wheel to bring the take-up lever to its highest point. Bring the thread to the left to the first thread guide and then go down. Bring the thread down and between the thread tension discs (down on the right and up on the left). Hold the spool tightly and pull the thread against the take up spring until the thread enters the retaining fork (at about 11 o'clock on a 12-hour clock) at the thread disc area. Pass the thread from right to left through the hole in the take-up lever. Bring the thread down through the guide on the face plate and then through the guides at the needle bar bushing and needle clamp. Put the thread through the eye of the needle (again from right to left).

AJ953185 is the serial number of the machine. It should be a model Singer 201 built after Nov. 6 1950. Most Singer manuals are available here: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual to the 201 is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/651_201.pdf . For a picture of the upper threading diagram see page 11 (page 12 of the PDF). The bobbin threading pattern is on pages 14-15 (pages 15-16 of the PDF).

I hope this helps.

How to thread on a singer 4411. Thank you

To thread the upper thread, make sure that the needle bar is fully up, using the hand wheel. Put the thread spool on the spool pin and secure it with the spool holder. Use the end of the spool holder that is closest to the spool size. Bring the thread through first guide to the left of the spool holder. Slide it past and behind the guide before pulling it into the guide. Then bring the thread to the pre-tension spring. Similarly, the thread goes behind the spring and then comes forward. Next bring the thread down through the channel and up through the adjacent one further to the left. It helps to hold the thread between the spool and the thread guide. Once you bring the thread up through the second channel bring it from right to left through the slotted eye of the take-up lever. Bring the thread down and through the horizontal thread guide, the thin guide clamp needle and to the needle. Thread the needle from front to back.

The manuals for most Singer sewing machines are available from the manufacturer's site: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual for the 4411 is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1230_4411_heavy_duty_esf.pdf . See page page 16 (page 23 of the PDF) for pictures of the guides.

I hope this helps.

Need a singer sew mate thread holder

Search the internet for:

Make + Model + the word "Parts"

If unsuccessful, a spool pin can be made using a small wooden dowel, a cut off plastic knitting needle, or taking a pin off a donor machine, or a variety of other items. There are also standalone thread stands that can be purchased that will set on the table behind your machine.

How to thread singer electronic machine (model 2517) I put the cone thread on top of machine but can't secure it to continue on with threading the machine

are you using a large cone of thread such as would be used on an overlocker? If so, yes you will have problems on a domestic sewing machine. Either run some thread off to fill a bobbin and then use this on the top of the machine. Or buy thread in a thousand metre spool and use this, its better quality thread and certainly easier to place on the machine 's spool holder. If you really want to use the bulk cone, then you probably need to buy one of these to make it possible.tally_girl_72.jpg
I hope I've understood your problem. If you need threading diagrams for your Singer then go to their website http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals and download your manual, most are there.

What is the part that holds on the spool of thread called on a Singer 5050?

Do you have a manual?
I checked the online manual available on the Singer site for your model and the part you mention is called a Horizontal spool pin and holder.
If you would like a copy of the manual go to the Singer site:
http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html
Type in 5050 and click on Search.
On the next page click on Free download!
Hope this helps!
