The vibration is from the fast rotation of the drive spinning the cd. Many newer drives do this. the only solution would be to place an older slower drive into the computer.

My Acer aspire 5735 will play sound when I stream music or tv but there is no sound when I try to play a dvd, can you help? The drivers are realtec, thanks

Hi,

I know this sounds stupid, but check the volume settings.

If that checks out, make sure your drivers are up to date. I don't know what Operating System you have (version of Windows) but I can point you in the right direction.

To get your drivers click on THIS link. It will take you to Acer's drivers page. Once on that page, simply click Notebook > Aspire > Aspire 5735

Then under that there will be a box where you can select your version of Windows, which will show you the appropriate drivers which is where you'll find the Realtek driver.

Hope this helped :)

My Acer Aspie 5735 will play some dvd's but not others. When I put the dvd's that won't play into the drive it sounds like the computer is trying to make it work because the drive starts vibrating hard but...

DVD's have different formats. DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW and then there is dual-layer, regional limitations, etc. Check the formats and make sure your DVD player can handle them. Are these recorded DVD's, data DVD's or retail-purchased DVD movies?

Check the Acer website for updated drivers. That means all of them, too, not just the DVD drivers. Check for audio, video, chipset, BIOS, etc. They can all have an effect on the overall playback/rendering performance.

It's not unusual at all for a DVD-ROM to be a bit finicky about copied DVD's that were recorded on other units.
You might be able to figure out why it won't play certain DVD's, but it's unlikely that you'll ever be able to force it to read a DVD that it just doesn't like.
