Question about GE Profile 22.2 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Bottom-Mount Freezer - Black

1 Answer

Water collecting inside fridge, under meat drawer

Removed drawer, removed ice and rest of water a couple months ago. Seemed better for awhile, but is happening again. Most responses say to clean the freezer drain, but freezer is on the bottom. I can see some condensation inside the fridge, but this gets to the point that it runs out onto the floor. Fridge is about 4 years old. model# PFSF6PKXEBB

Yes most responses are the freezer drain even if it is in the bottom freezer. If the drain is blocked water will build up anywhere inside your refrigerator only because it has no place to go during the defrost. Defective door seals can also can make the problem much worse. Why is water pooling in bottom of fridge under veggie drawer.? Also freezing ice cubes in back part of cube drawer

Just above the veg drawers at the back is a channel that collects water when the fridge defrosts. It has a hole to drain the water which is blocked and the water is pooling under the drawers. Clear the hole with a drinking straw.

We have a slow water leak in our fridge. The water pools under the bottom 2 produce drawers.

On most newer fridges, there is a very shallow 'V' shaped collection channel at the back of the fridge just above the bottom drawers, this is for condensate collection. In the middle of this channel there should be a hole, this quite often gets clogged, and over flows, hence the water at the bottom of the produce drawers, clear the hole and it should cure your leak, worth checking every couple of months.

Our Electrolux drawers (on tracks) are removed by pinching the small tabs together whilst pulling up on the emptied drawers; this is done with the drawers in the open position - one side, then the other.

Model CTX18GAZBRWW - (Hotpoint) no-frost - freezer on top Water collects under the vegetable drawers and must be removed every day.

Something to try....on the back wall of the fridge nearer to the top is a little cup like part sticking out. There is water in it but it usually runs down an attached tube inside back wall and ends up under the fridge and gets evaporated. If that tube or the little cup thing is plugged then it will drip in the fridge and collect on the inside bottom of the fridge. So the trick is to clean them out. Check it out ...may solve the problem.

Water is driping from the upper rear vent inside the fridge collecting under the drawers and driping out the front

Remove the food from the freezer and remove the rear panel (inside freezer) . If you have an icemaker , it too , needs removed . After removing the panel , use a hair dryer to defrost the drain , below the coils , until you see the drain hole . Then concentrate on defrosting the hole until water flows into and out of it . Sometimes hot water helps in the defrosting process . After the hole is cleared , use a hose inserted into the drain and blow thru it to clear any debris collected in the line . Get a piece of ALUMINUM wire (14-16 guage ) about 8 " long and insert one end into the drain hole as far as it will go without any force . May have to bend it slightly to get it to go farther . Wrap the other end about 1-11/2 turns around the black rod (heating element) and discard the rest of the wire . When thr fridge goes into defrost , heat will transfer to the aluminum wire , keeping the drain hole from iceing up again . reassemble freezer .

Collecting water at bottom of frig inside under drawers.

begin by removing the grill on the front at floor level. look under there and you will see the evaporation pan. next pull the fridge out from the wall so you can get behind it. there you will see the tube. to unclog it you will have to disconnect it at the top and force hot water into it using a turkey baster.

Fridge collecting water inside

The drain is clogged.

If you want to DIY then here it goes:

Some models have access to the drain by an elbow on the outside back of the Ref. Disconnect the drain line here and if you find the clog, great. If there is no visible drain line and elbow on the outside then...

Hopefully you can access the drain in the back top center of the fridge. This will require removing plastic covers, usually a few screws is all you have to deal with. You must get everything removed so you can see the drain hole in the back wall then you can use a tube and a little air pressure to clear the drain from that point down. If this is clear and you don't find any cloggs from that point down then the clog is at the top of the drain which is in the freezer.

This is going to require a little more work.
1. Take everything out of the freezer, put it in a cooler or just pile it in the sink.
2. Take the icemaker out.
3. Take out the back panel so you can see the cooling coils.
4. The drain hole is in the center directly under these coils but may not be visible because of ice in the drain pan.
5. Use a hair dryer to melt this ice and clear the drain so water flows down.
