SOURCE: Gas Range Oven not lighting

In many cases, even if the igniter is glowing, the resistance may not be low enough to turn on the gas valve. The igniter controls the gas valve. The gas valve could have failed but is extremely rare. The igniter has probably gone bad. ($50.00 to $90.00 for igniter). The igniter is in series with the gas valve. As the igniter heats up, the resistance decreases to a level where the valve will turn on the gas.

You probably need to replace the baking igniter, (Igniter, bake burner
Part Number: AP4102011 made by MAYTAG).

I tested the igniter function by (CAREFULLY) jerry rigging a bridge to wire the BAKE igniter to the BROILER controls. (Push/click plugs accessible by opening up the stove back) Testing the broiler controls this way the bake element remained cold. I then did the same test but connected the BROILER igniter to the BAKE controls and got a good glow. This indicates that the controls work but the Bake igniter's faulty!

You can access the bake igniter by removal of 2 screws at the front at the platform just inside the top oven. The broil and bake igniters appear to be identical but the push/click plugs are reversed at the back of the stove. (hence the CAREFUL jerry rigged wiring bridge.) The parts and wiring are pretty simple and visual once you get the covers off. Opening up the stove back is just a matter of removing several screws. UNPLUG the stove before you work. If you test as I described, make all connections while UNPLUGGED and then plug it in only for the brief test. Unplug again while disconnecting/reconnecting. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Keeps tripping circuit breaker everytime on plug the power cord in

2 common, possible problems. 1 - there is a "short" in the plug - easy fix - replace either the cord or plug - not expensive. 2 - bad control board - not so easy, not so cheap. Is it brand new, used? Also, it could be a bad "internal breaker" - not easy!

SOURCE: I have a maytag MGS

I would start by replacing the ignitor. It could glow enough to light the oven, but to maintain the burner, it often re-ignites several times during a cooking cycle. I have had the problem before, replaced the ignitor and all was well. You should be able to find an ignitor for under $40 online. Just google 'Maytag oven ignitor' and you should find many offers. My sister just bought one for $19.99!

How to turn on my oven model mgrh865qds

Gas controls are usually push and turn. The pilot has to be lit and the thermocouple warmed up before the gas will come to the oven. If the pilot is lit for a while and gets a little bigger when you turn on the control, but the oven doesn't come on, the thermocouple is bad. Hopefully it's not built into the control, because they are real expensive.

Our Maytag model dg410 quit ingniting. Is it ignitor or something else?

Power from the control Klixon mounted on the blower housing energizes the gas valve assembly when the temp is below 105f and the dryer is set for heat. If that control is open then no power is applied and no heat. If a restriction causes the dryer to exceed 350 for some reason then the fuse next to the control Klixon melts. No power will get to the gas assembly but the dryer will run. On that gas assembly is an ignitor/flame detect sensor, an ignitor, and a pair of solenoids that open the gas valve. The flame sensor must have continuity. If it is open then no power will get to the ignitor. If the ignitor is broken you will also have nothing. The coils will not open the valve without a change in the resistance of the circuit. One of them coils has 3 wires and the other has 2. The sequence of gas valve operation is the flame sensor bi-metal has to open when the temp exceeds 1800f. this kills the power to the ignitor and flips the 3 wire coil so that the ignitor is now a thermocouple and the coils will yank open the gas valve. As long as that ignitor stays hot then the gas will continue to flow out the valve. If for some off reason the gas were not to ignite the ignitor would coold down and shut off the gas and that is your builtin safety. So what goes wrong? Blown thermal fuse, open control Klixon, open flame detect/sensor, open ignitor, or Intermittent coils,(the coils will get hot and quit with age.

Installed a matag gas stove model # CRG9700BAL. burners work but push button to turn oven on and an error comes up F3. How do we fix this

Hi,

F3 is a sensor error. The sensor is in the oven it is a metal rod coming in on the back wall of the oven, it is a little smaller than a pencil. It is either gone bad or came unplugged. It runs up the back to the electronic clock, there should be two wires on it and 2 connections to check.

If you take the back off the stove be sure to unplug the power cord first.

I just replaced both the igniter and safety valve for the oven. When I plug in the oven, the oven comes on and stays on without setting the bake temp. The flame wont go out unless I unplugthe power

Your electronic oven control(clock) has failed in a short circuit mode.
Approximate cost is $120.
Go to repairclinic. com and enter your model number for a replacement electronic oven control.

Oven pilot light won't light

Part of the problem was my own ignorance about this particular Kenmore gas oven. It doesn't even have a pilot light. Instead, there is an electric heating element close to the burner which gets so hot that it ignites the gas. It seems that the heating element also doubles as a temperature sensor, so that it opens the gas valve only when the heating element is hot enough to ignite the gas. This heating element, called the "ignitor", no longer gets hot in my oven even though there is 120VAC applied to it when the oven knob is turned on. Therefore, the ignitor is defective. I ordered a new one on-line from "Appliance Parts of America" for $31.50 plus shipping, and this should fix the problem. If it does NOT, I'll add to this post.

Burners on gas stove work but oven and broiler not working

Most ovens, unless they have an electric igniter (does it go tick tick tick when plugged in and turned on? If so, it has an electic ignition.) have a pilot light. In order to keep gas from flowing out, and to prevent a possible explosion when the pilot light has gotten put out, they have an electric thermocouple on them that shuts off the gas when it gets cold. Plug the cord back in, and relight your pilot light by holding the lighter (I recommend a fireplace match or bbq lighter, not a cigarette lighter to prevent singed knuckle hairs!) over the thermocouple for a couple of minutes.
