I am sewing a cotton piece of fabric for a dress and i do not know how to set the tension for cotton

The tension for cotton is set the same way tension is set for any fabric:

1. The thread should pull freely with a small resistance before/after it goes through the needle, on many machines that's half way on the tension adjustment.

2. The bobbin thread when dangled by the thread with the bobbin inside the case should drop down a bit when slightly flicking your wrist like you do with a yo-yo. If it reels out to the floor the tension is too loose. If it doesn't drop at all it is too tight.

3. Now make sure you use the right type of needle. For cotton you want a "sharp" and for reg. weight cotton about a size 10 maybe 12.

Now take a piece of strap cotton material like you're going to sew a seem and sew with a wide zig zag. Example the top side and then the bottom. They should appear identical, flat with needle holes at each side where the thread disappears to the other side. You should see no loop where the threads over lap each other and the material should not be puckering in the middle.

If that is not what you see then think this way:

The TOP side of the stitch is effected by the BOTTOM thread. the bobbin tension.
The BOTTOM side of the stitch is effected by the TOP /needle tension.

Adjust the responding tensions until the stitch looks the same on both sides. Now you are ready to sew your cotton! :)

Water is dripping from the freezer down to the fridge. My vegetable and fruit bens are constantly full of water.

Hello lay.... that water is supposed to make it's way through a small hole in the floor of the fridge and down to the evaporator pan just above the floor. Begin by getting a flashlight and then remove the lower grill below the door of the fridge. Look under there with the flashlight to see if the evaporator pan is dirty. If so clean it. Then remove the bins at the bottom of the fridge and find that drain hole. Clean the hole with a cotton swab. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Toilet bowl does not have enough water. its the 1.6 gal. is there a way to adjust the water level? Toto

It depends on the design. Some of these have a flapper with a hole in the cylinder on the bottom side. Watch the flapper as you flush normally. You will see a few bubbles come out of the hole and the flapper will drop before the tank is empty.

If this is the case, you can plug the little hole with something, or buy a new flapper without the hole.

Changing or cleaning printer heads

Do not touch print heads with anything or you will damage and/or plug the ink holes. If print head is removable then: boil distilled water in shallow dish in microwave, immerse print head in water for 10 minutes, blot on cotton lint free cloth, reinstall in printer, then run print head clean utility. Repeat if necessary. If print head is not removable, check if there are ink jet holes on the bottom of the ink cartridge and do the same as above.

Water builds up uner bottom drawers

We had the same problem with our fridge.

Try checking the outlet drain hole (if there is one) on the back wall of the fridge.
If it is blocked - clear it out using something like a cotton bud etc.

The water normally goes out through this hole to a collector tray mounted on the
motor / compressor.
The heat from the motor evaporates the water.
If the hole is blocked - it cannot do this - so check it out.

All the best - Stuart
