This is usually a loose connection which can sometimes be difficult to locate, it needs to be rectified however as if left it may cause it to catch fire

SOURCE: smeg gas hob issues.

Ghazwan,

Relax. The problem is in the switch that is activated when you turn the gas on. It has either misaligned or broken. The gas itself is not involved. Generally, raising the top of the burner area will gain access to the switch and valve. Inspect and readjust or replace. Oh, and disconnect the electricity before touching the switch itself.

Hey, what can I do if on a ceramic hob there is no error message but a letter "L" at each section? The control buttons don't respond I only can switch off and on again but nothing happens. Please...

Hi,

You've probably accidentally activated the child-lock "L". It would help to know which model you have as the deactivation method can vary on different models. However, this is the process for activation or deactivation on the EKI-848 which looks like the one in the above picture:

Switching off the childproof lock

1. Press the ON key.

2. Then immediately press the Plus key of the cooking zone at the left-back and the Minus key of the cooking zone at the right-back simultaneously.

3. Then press the Minus key in order to deactivate the childproof lock. The "L" will go off.

If this doesn't work or you have a different model, please post back and I will let you know the correct deactivation method for your model.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

BElectric

It is child lock.

Turn cooker on, press two + at front of oven, this will then take it off for that cooking session.

To turn child lock off switch on hob, and touch - for 5 seconds.

Great.. finally. i manage find from solution from user guide.. L is Locked. below is the instruction. will check out tonight.
The locking function holds the current settings, or prevents anyone from starting the hob. It is also used for cleaning the control strip as the controls can be locked without the hob being on. To lock the hob : -Press the on/off button     . -Press simultaneously " - " button and " + " button of the front right zone (PVD 633 front left zone), and then press again on the " + " button of this zone. The hob is locked, the locking indicator " L " is displayed on all zones for 20 seconds. To unlock the hob : -Press the on/off button      . The locking indicator " L " is displayed on all zones. -Press simultaneously the " - " button and the " + " button of the front right zone (PVD 633 front left zone), and then press again on the " - " button of this zone. The hob is unlocked.

Hob light up.

I take it the two fuses you mention were the house fusebox and the fuse in the outlet in your kitchen? If you know the mains is getting to the hob and nothing at all is lighting up on the panel then this sounds like a job for the professionals. I can't find any mention of a reset button or user acessable fuse in the manual. The only thing left to do is check the main wire connection underneath the hob - if it is accessable. (switch off at the wall first!) Assuming you are in the UK Service force telephone number is 08705 929 929 Hope this helps.
