IF you're right, then you have three options:

  1. Replace carb, or
  2. Remove and overhaul carb [a little expensive and not "fun"],
  3. Try one of those relatively new "in-the-tank" solvent cleaner kits [available at most auto parts stores], but if you do, BE SURE to follow all label instructions "to the letter."

How do i clean the throttle body of a Peugeot 207cc 1.6 ? Or where do I find a workshop manual?

You can buy pressure pack cans of throttle body cleaner from auto parts stores. Make sure you get throttle body cleaner and not carburetor cleaner as the carburetor cleaner can damage you IAC valve.

Why Tiller cranks but will not run when you need it to till?

If you don't have a manual, could can read/download it at this link.
If the engine stalls under load, the mixture may be too lean. There should be a mixture screw on the carburetor. Note its position, and turn it counter-clockwise 1/8 of a turn to see if there is any improvement in engine performance. Repeat this but don't exceed about a half turn.
The tank has a vent and this should be kept vertical under the cylinder cover in the small "pocket" in the cylinder cover.
Lack of power can be caused by a dirty air filter or blocked muffler screen.

Will start and run .wont take throttle . clean carb good fuel flow

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition and leaking.
3. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module, and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
7. Intake air leak.
8. Water, dirt, or rust in the fuel system, carburetor and/or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor.
12. Loose, dirty, or corroded ignition module connector at crankcase.
13. Faulty MAP, CKP, O2, and/or CMP sensors.
14. Incorrect valve timing.
15. Weak or broken valve springs.
16. Damaged intake or exhaust valve.

1996 sportsman 400 wont idle. Had the carb cleaned by a "mechanic" after the bike took off wide open and driver was injured. He said the float stuck and he "fixed" the problem. Now...

I have NEVER heard of a float sticking and causing that issue. Sounds to me like the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) on the right handlebar isn't or wasn't adjusted. There is a thumb nut on the throttle cable coming out of the ETC switch. Loosen the screw and turn the cable in or out to get 1/16 to 1/8 inch freeplay on the thumb throttle. Too loose and it won't idle, too tight and it will pull the throttle cable tight and rev engine. It could also be a carburetor issue if it runs with choke. Either the idle screw isn't adjusted or the pilot jet is plugged. There is a large thumb screw coming off the carburetor, turning clockwise will turn the idle up. Let me know if you need anything else, Daniel.

Spear and jackson, sht26X, the throttle won't

I suggest taking the handle apart to see if anthing is blocking the action of the trigger from inside, like some debris. Then see if the throttle cable moves if you pull it. If necessary keep tracking it back to the carburetor, maybe there is a piece of debris in there blocking the throttle lever on the carburetor.

Engine is hunting

Your carburetor is dirty and/or varnished. If you have throttle control, you can throttle down until it stabilizes, then slowly bring it back up until running full speed. If you do not have throttle control, or if it does not work, get some carburetor/fuel injector cleaner fuel additive to put in the tank, I put it in kinda strong. Caution here, too much will eat at the carburetors components. Run out the fuel tank, after it cools try starting again to see if still doing it. If all this has failed to significantly affect this, you will need to disassemble and clean the carburetor.

I hope this helps.

Starts but when throttled continues to die

You have a dirty carburetor or a carburetor in need of new parts. Disassemble carburetor. Clean with carb. cleaner and use a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning teeth), for the small portals. Check the small screen in carb., making sure that it's free of debris. Reassemble and see if it works properly. If it doesn't, then you will need to buy a carb. kit and replace the small screen, needle valve, appropriate gaskets, and diaphragm. This should do it.
