Question about Samsung SGH-t229 Cellular Phone

Dropped in water-how do I take it apart to dry?

My son jumped in the pool with his samsung t229 in his pocket. He had the sense to remove the battery and SIM card ASAP. I have taken apart the keyboard half of the phone to dry, but cannot figure out how to take apart the screen side. There is clearly moisture in both screens. I found and removed two screws from that side, but cannot find anymore and I am afraid to pry! This is the second phone he has ruined in last 6 months and I do not want to buy him a new one!

Actually, he has paid for both of his phones. I didn't ask for parenting advice, I asked how to take apart the phone.

I do not want to take the circuits apart. I am not an idiot. I want to take the *cover* off of the screens so that they can dry. I realize that I need to let it dry naturally before trying to reinstall the battery. That is why I posted here asking how to open up the phone so that it can do that. If you know how to do this, please let me know. If you don't, please don't bother responding because it is not helpful to anyone.

Easy way to fix that problem...dont buy him a new one...maybe if he pays for it himself he will have a little more respect for it...besides that, the best you can do for the phone is let it dry naturally for about 10 days before trying to reinstall the battery. once an lcd display has been water damaged it is more economical to replace the phone than to replace the display.

ok whatever...and like I said, just let it dry on its own for a few days. cell phones and other electronic devices are all consructed using micro components and integrated circuits...basically meaning that you CANT take it apart, it's designed that way for a reason. if one circuit is damaged by water then that damage is going to affect the other circuits on the phone.

I recently jumped into a pool with my cell phone in my pocket (SAMSUNG Reality). I realized it 10 minues or so after. Dried the phone. A day later, the phone will turn on when connected to charger...

When phone gets wet NEVER try to turn it on. Take battery out right away shake water off and put both in bowl of rice for at least 24 hrs. If your not home or don't have rice right away take battery out and get some. We have a bowl of rice on the counter all summer long for those who jump in the pool with phone in their pocket. I have washed them dropped them in the toilet my son jumped in pool with his phone, put it rice for 24 hrs and we were up and running with the exception of the one in the pool, that one cost me new battery on Ebay ($4.95) but phone worked fine, didn't even lose contacts or pictures. But the key is to NOT try to turn it on after its been wet. Water and batteries don't mix.

My son dropped his T Mobile phone into a swimming

I would go for it. Battery may be discharged. It is either going to work or not. Water damage is the worst thing tp predict. Circuits may have corrosion unless you have looked at the boards.

Sometimes when electronics are dropped in water, you can still use the. Circut boards have a silicon coat over the circut boards for instances like this. Depending on how long it was in the water, you may be able to still use it. Let the phone dry out for about 24 hrs (take out battery and back cover) then try to replace the battery and start it back up. If it doesnt turn on the circuts were affected and it broken.

Leave it in the rice for several days, if it still doesn't work then it's shot.

Dropped phone in water

SIM is probably bad or a little wet. but wait and let everything dry out and see if it works. Mine was soaked and the next morning worked fine. at least you probably won't have to buy a new phone.

There's still water in it. You'll need to take the battery out and let it dry another two days. I got my phone wet one time and it took a week before it worked again.
