Trying to boot win 7 x64 enterpirse ISO image from external HDD. Boots to HDD and shows black screen with cursor.

Can you enter the bios settings (usually by pressing DEL or Esc .. or F12 .. depending on your PC..)?
Make sure that the computer is set up to boot from external usb. You need to go into the bios settings to do this.
By default your computer is probably set up to boot from either a dvd - or the hdd.
The reason your computer isn't booting from an iso on an external hdd is because the boot order/priority in your bios settings needs changing.

Try to re-install 2 Operating systems use this order,
1,Install windows XP by booting the XP cd,
2,and then install Win 7 by booting from Win 7 cd.
Then while you restart computer there will be a prompt menu asking to select OS to start. Thanks
