TV stuck on with picture and volume and no working controls

The TV is stuck on with picture and volume. Controls on the front of the TV don't work and the remote control doesn't work; however when you press keys on the TV front or remote control you get confirmation flashes from the red status light on the TV.

SOURCE: Remote volume control for Sharp Aquos 42inch LCD not working

User 'rapolley' is absolutely right. One can cycle through the functions to access different options, ie. 'TV', 'Audio', 'DVD', etc. I stumbled upon this solution when I thought my 'Menu' button wasn't working. All I had to do is cycle through the 'Functions' and choose 'Menu' once I get to 'TV'. Thanks!

SOURCE: won't respond to volume or channel changes red light blinks 20x's when turned off.

It's definitely a firmware problem. I called Panasonic and they were very polite about the entire situation and sent me a SD card with the firmware update. If you don't have time and you're tired of listening to tv at the same volume there is a way to do a hard reset.

I figured that unplugging the unit would do this, but there is one other step that you have to do to ensure that this works.

Generally the power button on the tv is always in the "on" position, this is what allows the remote to work. In order to do a hard reset the on/off button must be in the off position. Make sure that is off, then unplug the unit, let it sit there for a minute or two and plug it back in. If the tv comes back on as soon as you plug it back into the wall/powerstrip then the button was not in the off position.

This isn't the best fix, you'll still need to get the firmware update but it will at least give you the ability to use your tv normally....well until it decides to randomly lock up on you again and you have to do this all over.

SOURCE: The volume is turning itself down all by itself. The volume on the remote won't work, but the remote is fine with the other TV controls.

It sounds like the button is stuck. Take the remote apart if you can and see if the key is stuck somewhere. This happened to me once with a rubber key type of remote. It drove me crazy.

SOURCE: TV doesn't turn on

Check the voltage at BP610 pin 1.It should be 5 volts. If it is low check or replace CP616.It is a 470 MFD 16 V capacitor. On my set it measured only 125 MFD.

SOURCE: Samsung le40r74bd problem

I just had this problem with my 3 year old 32" Samsung LCD. The volume would go up and down by itself, normally just constantly going up even when it reached 100%.

I thought it might have something to do with the volume buttons on the TV itself so seeing as it was out of warranty anyway I decided to unplug it and open it up.

I gave it a good clean and I disconnected the cable for the panel of buttons on the LCD itself (volume, menu, channel etc) seeing as I never use them anyway. I then put everything else back together and tested.

It seems to be working fine now. Previously (for the past 3 hours) ever time I turned it on the volume level would come on instantly and stay on until I turned the TV off. So I’m quietly confident the problem has been fixed. But I must admit it’s only been 10 minutes, so who knows, it might come back.

Samsung TV stuck on with picture and volume and no working controls on TV or remote

Sounds like main board fault. These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Good day Mr.Daniel Navarro..

The picture below is the sample 42" plasma TV (internal parts)..

If your TV won't adjust volume or change channel by pressing button on the front panel..The problem could be the digital control board,it is the one that have a rectangular red on the image shown..

But before you replace the board make it sure that the control button assembly is properly connected on the said digital control board ( no loose connection or loose solder)..

Also try this remedy:
If you have remote control you can use it for the mean time to adjust the volume and channel so that you don't need to replace the digital control board..

Hope it helps..

Thanks for using fixya and purchased my service..Please don't forget to rate my answer..

LG TV 32LB9D VOLUME STUCK AT 100, NO RESPONSE TO REMOTES

The fault may be on the control board. Sometimes the button switches can be stuck, or there may be something causing some conduction on the control circuit board. It is also possible to have a component failure that is causing a continuous command to keep the volume to the high position.

Something that causes failures of controls in TV sets is when people clean the screen, they spray liquid cleaner on the screen. Some of it drips down in to the controls and on to the circuit board. This will usually cause damage, and thus the set will require shop service.

Non Responsive 35" RCA

You are going to have to check all of the small tact switches behind the push buttons in the front of the TV set. In the past, someone may have cleaned the picture tube and the liquid dripped down onto the switches and corroded them, or one is stuck closed or the remote sensor is bad. The best way to test this would be to replace the entire switch panel in the front of the TV set. Good Luck

There's a setting in the menu. I think it's called "smart audio". It's supposed to adjust the volume automatically for commercials. But I don't think it works that well. Give that a try.
