1. its mainly due to Sim card get older and bend. So it cannot seat well in its slot.
2. Remove the Sim card. Check whether Sim card is normal. Due to the dust on the Sim also can cause this problem
3. May be the phone's Sim slot pin allignment problem. Check whether the all pins are good.
4. Some times when phone falls to the ground makes the Sim move from its slot. So also this problem occurs.
5. if problem persists even after these diagnosis methods.
6.Contact service centre for further Rectifcation. thank you

May be its detecting your sim card properly. Check your sim card in another handset. Verify if its the propbelm with sim card not your handset.

Before you do anything with it, please clean the sim card and sim card connector on the handset. Even a small rust/dust can create this problem.
If it doesn't help, you need to check the Sim card on another Handset. In most cases, this is damaged sim connector, and will be necessary to replace or re-soldered/refreshed. Sometimes even sim IC is the culprit which you need to replace or play jumper tricks. I would suggest you to get it done from a service center or from a nokia mobile repairing center.
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Try the sim in another phone and another sim in your phone. What I see is either the sim is bad, or the phone is rejecting the sim. In either case, you would have to call your mobile sevice operators and alert them of the situation. They would help you further. Hope this was helpful?
