Question about Televison & Video
My 13 month old VS42L would ''freeze up'' randomly - picture gone or frozen, no sound. Backlight stayed on! No remote control or side buttons had any effect. Only way to regain control is to cycle power. Warrantied under Costco extended program. Unit repaired by contract repair company by swaping out video board, power supply and a cable. Same problem next day. Costco Concierge set up replacement unit from VIZIO.
Company certified replacement received yesterday (6/18/09). Replacement has same freeze up issue with seemingly increased frequency of occurence.
Only connection is RF cable to Comcast. No switches or tuner boxes. Unit sits in a large recessed area, but measured temp at highest point seems to be withing operating temp spec.
Just unplug the comcast and see how the tv works, if the TV works fine, then you will now the trouble is not your TV.
It is not likely to have the same issue in the new TV, just unplug everything and use a dvd to see how it handle it.
