Question about Philips 27PT5441 27" TV

PHILIPS 27PT54 I need to identify the value of a cap that is between pins 1&3 of the vertical output ic. TDA8359. There is no location number for this cap. I have no manual for this model Thank you Neil Murray c/o Allbest Audio Video

Where is horizontal output ic in my t.v?

There is no horizontal oscillator IC. The horizontal oscillation is generated and outputted by the main system control IC LA76810 itself. Refer some circuit diagrams using LA76810 to get more details about the horizontal oscillation output from the IC. Measure the frequency at that output pin. It should be some ever near 15.62KHz.

How to repair and locate vertical ic on apex tv

See attached photo of a typical chip--usually one row of pins (single in line package) and has the Generic part number right on the front--with the number on yours you can Google a pin out which will show what pins are voltage in, output etc.

Some are ones with two rows of pins staggered and offset.

Locate it also by looking for it to be attached to a metal plate for cooling--also when replacing it the white heat transfer grease on the back of it must be replaced with fresh grease--the white heat sink kind used in computers and electronic equipment of all kinds.

Not a bad idea if you had foldover on top of picture to look at the filter caps right around the chip--one will be a feedback cap--usually a 220uf or higher (uf is microfarad and the cap will have two pins with one a plus and the other a negative marked on them--if that cap is open the set will have nearly a full picture but have folded over lines at top of screen---if that fails it shortly gets the chip.


This is a typical one and yours will likely differ in the number of pins--7-13 pins is normal.

Replace capacitors CX2105 (35 volts 220 Mf), CX2110(35 volts 100Mf), C2104 (50 volts 1 Mf), resolder resistors RX2115, RX2116,R2118,R2119. You will need to also resolder the vertical IC. I think this IC location is IC 2200, its been sometime since I repaired this one.Do not short the pins together with excess solder. The values on the cap may not be exact. Please use the cap value that is removed (remove and replace one at a time). The locations will be correct! This will remove the horizontal lines or bars across the TV screen. You may as well replace capacitors in the horizontal deflection area. By now you have bad caps there. The locations and values are, CX3218 (160 volts 2.2Mf), CX3205 (16 volts at 100 Mf) CX3413 (50 volts 22 Mf) and CX3416 (25 volts 100Mf). Thanks for asking and show all hands of support.

There are several versions of this model. They all have the same problem. The problem I'm speaking of , the location numbers of bad capacitors. So I will give you values and you will need to search and replace these. Find an ESR meter to locate bad capacitors. In the vertical deflection look for 50 volts at 4.7Mf, 35 volts at 100Mfs,50 volts and 25 volts at 1 Mfs. Be sure to resolder the vertical IC and don't solder the pins together. Find the smallest electrolytic caps valued at 50 volts 1 Mfs and replace these. These are scattered through out the main board. Other small caps include the 25 volt 10 Mfs, several of these as well. You also may want to inspect the capacitors near the flyback transformer and horizontal transistor and the horizontal output transistor. You will have to seek and find the weak or bad caps here. I will tell you, the shut down is mainly a capacitor issue. Caution is required when you remove these. The circuit traces in these TVs are very delicate and you can destroy this TV in seconds.Thanks for asking me and show all hands of support!

My tv all of a sudden has horizontal lines across the picture.

You have bad grounds on your vertical IC. And you have a bad capacitor or two. I don't recall the actual location of the vertical IC location. I would say it may be U4501 location. Resolder the seven pins of this IC. Now check capacitor locations C4505 which is a 35 volt 220 Mf value, and C4506 which is a 63 volt 330 Mf value.Replace these caps as necessary. Then check the solder grounds at the power supply chip U4101, this chip is a switch mode regulator and may become detached from the board. Resolder these 11 pins and be careful not to short the pins with too much solder. Please note the two pins on the right (separated by a missing pin) are soldered together, this is OK. Now for the biggest challenge. You must pull the bottom shield off the tuner (has the RF connection). Yes, this area can produce the horizontal lines you speak of. When removed, you will see about 15 bad solder connections. This area will require great skill to resolder. The solder on the perimeter of this tuner is very difficult to work with, and you do not want to burn off any traces connecting to out side feeds. You could destroy this board. Now inside the tuner area there will be 5 pins or grounds that will need resoldered. Be careful here and not to burn off the small traces leading to other connections. Replace the tuner shield after complete inspection and soldering. In some cases the eeprom, locationU3201, will need replaced. Might not in your case as you say you can still watch TV and the audio is good. I know this is a lot of information, but this TV can be saved. I have repaired many of these. My Panasonic TC-21Z88RBN doesn’t displays the total picture vertically ,when the picture is display it like not in the center of the screen sum of it is disappear in the bottom


Your TVs vertical output section has the fault. You just open your TV after disconnecting it from the AC mains wall socket, and locate the vertical output section. This section uses an Ic marked as part [IC 401] on the board and its number is LA7840. Just look for any loose soderings around its components legs, and the solderings at the IC legs, which has 7 of them. The IC stated above will be screwed onto a heatsink to radiate heat out of it when it works.
If all soldering point are fine, come towards the IC legs and measure the voltages at each leg. The voltages must be
pin 1= Ground
pin 2= 12.6
pin 3= 24.7
pin 4= 4.4
pin 5= 4.4
pin 6= 24v [vcc]
pin 7= 1.8
All voltages stated above are DC voltages with respect to ground. If any of this voltage is missing, find out the reason for that. If all of them are noted abnormal, IC may be defective, and replace it.
[vcc] stands for main input voltage to the IC.

Avm 3259 picture problem

Vcc is on Pin 6 of the vert. output IC so you can trace that back to it's feed resistor (not sure the location number but you can find it easily by following the circuit trace). Depending on what your problem is you may need to replace some electrolytic capacitors as well. Follow pin 7(pump up) back to it's electrolytic cap. and look for swelling or bulging. Look for other bulged capacitors in the vertical section. You may also identify a bad resistor by a discolored look but not always, if in doubt meter it.

Missing vertical deflection on philips TV

TDA 8362B IC which have vertical freq.output is at pin no.43. (vert.osc) caution for fixing this problem minimise brightness to avoid crt burn. proceed as follows 1 if you are getting sawtooth at output of ic tda 8362 pin 43 then check 1 supply at vertical output ic from eht. 2 yoke connector loose . 3 check vertical output ic parts. 4 finally vertical ic. please check for normal output from power supply even though fault gets rectified just for protection. good luck.

Tv cuts off 10 seconds after switch on and destroying vertical output ic

If the main IC is not putting out a vertical drive signal then the vertical output will not do anything and therefore will not be damaged. What exactly do you mean by the set "literally eats deflection IC's"? What is the number on the vertical output IC? I will bet that your pump-up cap or pump-up diode is defective.
