Your shutter is probably stuck closed over the lens inside. Have a look in to your cameras lens and see if you can see the inner lens or just the shutter closed over it.
Will require servicing

Fujifilm FinePix S1600 The monitor display is not working. Can it be replaced and if so how easy is it?

It could be that you have it set for EVF which means that you are using the tiny view finder instead of the LCD screen? It should have a button close to the view finder labeled EVF/LCD, you can alternate between the LCD screen or the tiny viewfinder? This function if mainly to conserve battery power or if you are out in the sun and cannot frame a shot and so you use the view finder like the old cameras, hope this might help you?

How do i replace lense cover on a canon sx170 is?

Since I cannot see your pieces, I can recommend actual replacement. You can Google your camera's make/model with replace lens cover and pick from the listings. You can also go straight to Canon USA and search their store as they have replacement lens covers. I did this here for another customer as an example.

I turned my Cannon G9 camera on and 'lens error. restart camera' is the message I see. The lens will not retract and the camera does not function at all except for the message and the opening...

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

The screen stays black. Yes, I have batteries, I do get instructions and images for video or camera, but I can no longer get a visual of anything the camera is aiming at. It's like there is a lens cap on...

Look at the front at the lens. Turn the camera to picture mode. Point the camera at a light above you. Take a few pictures and watch the lens.
You should be able to tell if is functioning correctly or if its broken. It sounds like it has been dropped.

Have a fuji finepix S5600, but my lcd remains black even the camera is on! i can see the pictures i already made at the lCD. But LCD is not working if i want to make new pictures??

Hello, I think I know what the problem is..we'll see. On the back of the s5600 there is a button marked EVF and LCD(EVF on top LCD underneath) try clicking this button to see if your LCD screen becomes available, only one of these can be used at a time and the default for playback is the LCD screen. However if you have set it to EVF it will revert back to this format when you leave playback and try take new footage. I hope this helps and it is nothing more complicated. I have some problems myself and know how it feels. Alan

My polaroid dvg 1080p camcorder is great except there's no lens cap. how can I get one?

Lens caps for this model camera are not available from Polaroid, unfortunately.you could certainly fashion one from a used medicine bottle cap. Find a one that fits over the lens, paint it black, and add a string or take a lanyard from your old camera and use it! It's a cheap alternative, but an alternative nonetheless!
