Question about Garden
I have just brought an old Masport 2.5 HP mulcher/chipper. Tried it this afternoon and all it does it jam everything in tight instead of forcing it out the outlet. I then discovered that the design of the outlet needs the blades to run clockwise, yet the motor runs anti-clockwise, forcing the mulch back into the blades, making it finer and finer and blocking the machine. I can only assume that someone has modified the machine at some point, else I am missing something here?! It does have a red button which I was hoping would be a reverse, but it does nothing. Any ideas?Cheers

Does it have a primer bulb on the side of the engine? If so, it is probably a bad bulb, or the hoses connected to it. You can prime enough gas to start the engine and briefly run it, but the cracks in the bulb or hoses allow air to get sucked into the carburetor not gas. This is what kills the engine. You can pick up a repair kit at just about any hardware store for less than $10.

At the gas filter? Air filter? Is it a Brigg's? If it is the gas filter, are there clamps that need tightening> Is it the right filter? The hose size is most important. If it is the air filter and it is gushing out, then you have a stuck float in the carb. Hope this gives you some ideas.
