Horn doesnt work after re-pack of airbag - 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

If the fuse is OK, check if you have power at the horn, if yes, replace the horn, if not check the switch or wire. make sure you have a good ground too.

THE WHOLE HORN PAD AND AIRBAG IN STEERING WHEEL HAS TO BE REPLACED.BECAUSE HORN PAD BUILT IN THE AIRBAG.IF YOU GOING TO REPLACE AIRBAG IN STEERING WHEEL YOUR SELF. DISARM AIRBAGS BY FIRST TURNING OFF RADIO,THEN REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE,WAIT 20 MINUTES FOR AIRBAGS DISCHARGE.BEFORE REMOVING THE AIRBAG HORN PAD.

Airbag wont go off. It doesnt discharge by tampering, its electrical..... Dont mess with any yellow wires tho. Im pretty sure airbag wires are double yellow. Or wrapped in yellow tape/casing.

To take out the driver's airbag you should disconnect the battery cables, let car sit ten minutes, then on the back side of the steering wheel you will find two holes, one on the driver's side and one on the pass. side of the steering wheel. Using a torx bit driver about a T25 or T30 unscrew the two screws that are up in these holes. Note that the screws do not come out but as you unscrew the screws the airbag moves up and away from the steering wheel. then you can unplug it. The connector just pops out of the back of the airbag unit. The horn not working could just be a fuse, bad relay or the horns may be bad. Wiht the key on if you push the horn you should be able to hear the horn relay that is in the front fuse box click once for every time you push the horn. If this does not click you will have to trace down the problem but try this before you remove the airbag unit. You can also unplug the horn and jump power to one side and ground to the other side to see if the horn is bad or if it will blow. Hope this helps, Tommy

the spider cable broke, wish is the air bag cable locates inside the steering wheel

In most cases this problem is caused by the rotating ribbon circuit contact under the steering wheel having a broken filament, the part is known as a clock spring contact, u will need to properly disarm the airbag and remove the steering wheel to access the part. WARNING: Failure to follow factory Airbag disarming protocol can result in an unexpected Airbag deployment and possible serious personnel injury or death.

Disconnect the battery for 30 minutes, this will disarm the airbag system and then u can change the part.

does your cruise control work? the reason is that there is a what is called a clockspring harness in the sterring wheel under the airbag, if your airbag light is flashing chances are this harness is broke and will need to be replaced,  The airbag, horn, and cruise control all go throught this clockspring harness.  

its probably not the horn itself but it might be the horn button on the steering wheel, it probably the clock spring messing up , if it is than be very careful with the airbag when you pull the steering wheel off , just disconnect the battery and wait 5 to 10 minutes before disassembling the steering wheel
