Question about Salter Health & Beauty

Open Question

After giving excellent service for a couple of years, our Salter model 9153 analyser bathroom scales have developed problems and won't even give us a simple weight. Following the recommended sequence

If the problem cannot be fixed at home, would repair/replacement be covered by the 15-yr warranty. If so, what is the procedure for returning it (I've tried returning it to the shop where it was bought but they didn't want to know!)

SOURCE: Salter 9001 bathroom scale stopped working

Hi Pete. I don't keep receipts either : ^ )
No that I am done commeserating, try this. Remove the batteries. Use the eraser end of a common pencil to scrub and clean the battery contacts inside the battery compartment. Also pull the contacts a little closer to the surface if you can. Then reinstall the batteries and you may be up and running.

SOURCE: I changed the battery on bathroom scale Salter 987

I had the same problem with my Salter 987 scale. Pull the battery out for about 10 seconds and put it back in. Then push the scale once so it turns on. After the blinking stops, push it once more. The scale will now zero itself. After the scale has zero'd itself it may turn off after a brief moment. It's now ready to use normally. If you're standing on the scale when it's trying to calibrate to zero, it will assume your weight is zero. Don't stand on the scale after replacing the battery untill you first complete the steps listed above.

I have a Salter bathroom scales purchased about a year ago in Tesco. I no longer have the receipt so I no not have any come back from Tesco. When you get on the scales it will give you one weight reading...

I would contact the Company that makes the scales and inform them of their defaulty scale that you paid your hard earned money and see what they say, They may replace it if you send them the defaulty one! Good luck.
