Kdf-50e2000: Shuts off by itself, lamp blinks 4

Kdf-50e2000: Shuts off by itself, lamp blinks 4 times, pause, repeats, etc. After a rest turns on normally, but does it again. The shorter the rest interval, the quicker it happens after turning on again. Overheating problem? If so, what are some of the causes?

I have taken the back cover off, blown it out, and verified the fan is running. Fan doesn't seem to be moving much air. Is there a filter somewhere?

Thanks. Any idea where I can find what voltage it should be getting, before I break out the fluke?

Does anyone happen to know what voltage is supposed to go to the fan? (Or where I can find that info?)

I just had this issue. I think this solution worked for me. (We'll see after watching for a few more hours.) The TV was intermittently cutting off and then turning back on every 90 seconds or so. It was as though the power was barely breaking contact every once in a while. Kind of frustrating considering that it is a $1000 TV.

The fix I used is in this thread at the URL below. There is a photo of the problem source. I do not think you need a new $160 lamp. The problem is a little "switch" that makes contact between the lamp and the ballast (power regulator).

http://www.agoraquest.com/viewtopic.php?topic=34458&forum=34

The "switch" is not so much of a switch as much as a thin piece of metal that makes contact with the lamp. See the photo in the discussion thread. I bent it out about a quarter of an inch and then reinstalled the lamp. So far so good.

I will post again if the problem crops up again.

Four blinks is a fan error, I don't think that set has a filter but may have more than one fan. If the fan blades have a lot of dust on them that can cause slow rotation, can just be a bad fan or improper voltage going to the fan.

Tv will not stay on

Hi,
If tv shuts off and turns back On itself than lamp is weak and need to be replaced.
If tv shuts off but does not turns On itself than you will see red light blinking on tv front, let me know how many times it blinks, there would be pause of 3 seconds in blinks so count pause to pause and post here to provide you helpful info about problem.
Thanks.

Are you putting the lamp cover back in place before trying to turn the set on? The 2 blink error is a temperature error you might want to check the thermal sensor, is your lamp door warped?

Sony KDF-50E2000 shuts down and blinks repeatedly twice.

The 2 blink error is a temperature error and the 6 blink error is a thermal fuse error. You may need to unplug the set and get you a can of canned air, take off the back lower cover and blow out all of the fans inside the set.

Did you replaced lamp in TV recently?
I think TV needs new lamp as existing is either broken or dead.
Lamp replacement procedure would be mentioned in user manual or let me know to provide you more info.
Thanks.

Make sure that lamp door is fixed securely and pressing lamp door switch as 3 times blinks shows lamp door switch is not On.

bad lamp driver, if you have already replaced the lamp. If not, try replacing the lamp WITH AN ORIGINAL SONY LAMP!. Don't waste time with cheap replacements, you get what you pay for.
