Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
The CMOS battery is located on the motherboard, just behind the speaker/headphone jacks.
You will have to remove the cover (and be careful in the process) to access this area.
With the red arrow, I've indicated on the photo the location of the CMOS battery.
I would highly recommend that you document your procedures and take lots of digital photographs to help you rebuild the device after you replace the battery.
Since you will not find a manual to do this process, you will have to create your own.

Take the battery out. Unplug the charger from the computer. Press the On button for 30 seconds. Then plug the charger in. If it works, then put the battery back in and you're in business again.
The controller gets locked up sometimes, you need to clear it out and let it reboot like that....

remove main cover on reverse - there will be a small (2cm) flat battery 'probably under some electrical tape' - good luck

Desktop PCs use a battery to keep time when the they are off, much like a watch. Like a watch, the battery needs to be replaced when it runs low on power. Replace the battery using the steps below.
