Question about Pc America Restaurant Pro Express

1 Answer

How do I take Restaurant Pro Express out of Enterprise Mode? I'm trying to restore the database from a backup but that is not allowed while RPE is in Enterprise Mode.

I have a single store with two cash registers (workstations) up front and one server in the back office.

Your getting a connection successful because your looking at the localhost. The server would be the network name of your server. And the password is case sensitive and is pcAmer1ca. (Note the number 1, not an i)

Need to open a BAk file without erasing new data

You need to restore the .bak file using a different database name. Example: If current database is cresql, restore the .bak file as cresqlold. Then you need to tell RPE to switch to this database. This gets tricky and is best left to experienced tech. If you want my help, send me an email to: sysadmin@ccybernet.com

How to delete restaurant pro and start over

Backup database first.
Log your license key by trying to register. It should display.
Uninstall RPE from Programs in Control Panel. Then search for the CRE.net folder and rename it CREOLD.net. Then reload RPE.
After install, it will ask you to re-register. It will also ask you if you want to keep existing database. If you are starting from scratch, choose over write with a new one. Otherwise, keep existing db. This will preserve your inventory and menu setup.

Hi Lindsay,
All you need from the old server is the database or a recent backup of database. You place it in the proper SQL folder or if it is a backup, restore it. Then reconfigure the workstation to look at this database instead of the server. Not to big of a deal if you know SQL and RPE configuration.

I have not backed up my databse in almost 4 years and Restaurat Pro Express is runnig very slow. What is the best way to back it up? I want to clear my database. How can I restore my DB on a different...

The best way is with the backup function under FILE on login screen. To clear database you go to same place, click CLEAR DATABASE, then choose CLEAR TRANSACTIONS. You are given no warning and all invoices are removed from database. Very drastic. There are better ways outside the system.

If you try to restore database to another computer, you will need another license to use it. Again, there are better solutions outside the RPE software but you need someone who knows what he is doing and what you are looking to save.

Have you checked to see if you can upgrade/increase your RAM. This can increase your speed at a minimum cost.

My admin password for Restaurant pro express version 12.0006 suddenly stopped working... HELP!

Try using the default ones. They are ID of 01 and password admin. If this lets you in, go to EMPLOYEE MAINTENANCE and make sure account has not been disabled, then reset the password.
If the defaults don't work, you could restore database from a backup.
If you don't have a recent backup, you will need to add an administrative account to the database manually. This would require technical assistance from me or PCAmerica.

With your previuos problem and now this, it might be wise to reload RPE and SQL Server. Be sure to backup database first. Then uninstall RPE and delete all folders dealing with CRE. Uninstall SQL server and all related software. You can then install both from the CD or download. You will probably need to reregister RPE. Then restore your database.

If this seems a little more than you wish to handle, I'm available. sysadmin@ccybernet.com

I can not restore my database which I backed up one hour agoon PC America Restaurant Pro Express

brewkeeper, there are so many possibilities on this subject that I couldn't even begin to cover them. The backup file should end in '.bak' and be located in the 'CRE.net' folder under Program files on your C drive if you did a typical installation. If the backup completed successfully, you should have received a completed popup. If you locate the backup file, the restore process will ask you what you want to call the restored database. If you are positive you want to do this, call it 'cresql'. This is the standard RPE database name. If you are not positive, call it something else. You may not use numbers. Try using 'restoreone'. You should get a message that database was restored. This does not, repeat does not make it the active database. You must then switch to the new database name you created. This will allow you to switch back and forth between databases. If you called the restored DB 'cresql', then it would be active and overwrite the current database. Any changed since the backup would be lost.

I repair RPE databases and am available if you need help recovering. Email me at sysadmin@ccybernet.com and I'll call you.
