Kill switch for 50 hp mercury outboard motor

Hey Dan,
this depends on what type of kill switch you have...
one type kills (breaks the hot wire) the connection and one type makes the connection to ground..(grounds it out).. try to bypass the kill switch to see if it will run..

Where do the kill switch wores go on a 210 power saw for sthil

Most kill switches just ground out the ignition.
You can check this with a continuity meter.
- In the "ON" position, the switch is open and there will be no continuity.
- In the OFF position, the switch will be closed and there will be continuity.
So.............
one wire will be to ground, and
the other wire will be to the coil (or some other ignition connection.

Kill swich stopped working. Now won't start

To be sure it is the kill switch is easy enough to figure out. But first lets go over how it works picture a ground wire being touched to your spark plug wire the spark would follow it to ground before it got to your spark plug. That is what happens when you hit the kill switch it completes a circuit that sends your spark to ground rather than to your plug. So if we know for sure we are not getting spark to the plug then we only have to disconnect the kill switch to determine if it is the culprit. Pop out the kill switch on most models it just takes a screw driver. when you do look to see if the spades are touching if they are separate them and see if you have fire at the plug sometimes this is what causes the failure. If not proceed with plan A remove the switch and tape off one or both of the spades that connect to it as if they touch it is the same thing as an engaged kill switch and your spark will go to ground. Try the engine again. Are you getting spark to the plug if so then replace the kill switch. if not then follow your wires back to your coil at the flywheel are there any bare spots or is the spade at the coil touching anything. If so repair the wiring or adjust the spade and try again. if still a no go then you have a bad coil

I have a craftsman 2400 watts generator where does the wire that comes off the kill switch connect to

A kill switch wire works by stopping power to the switch by connecting to ground..usually the engine..but any unpainted surface will do..just make sure it is a clean contact and tight..good luck..

How to replace a kill switch on a husky 288 xp

There should be only 1 screw and one wire connecting the kill switch. The kill switch simply grounds out the ignition. So it is difficult to install improperly. The wire coming from the switch goes directly to the ignition module.

Does the wire from the kill switch need to be connected in order for the chainsaw to run?

The on/off switch must be connected and switched to ON to run. The kill switch if it is the type of switch that you must press and hold then not it only grounds the coil to stop the spark plug from getting power.

So my answer is no.

Kill switch wiring

depends... most 4 strokes use a single wire from coil to ground kill system. I.E. wire goes to the kill switch ( key ) then over to ground ( safety switches come into play when dealing with riders, ztr's and big mowers. hand held equipment like weed eaters can either ground at the kill switch or go back to the block for grounding.

I think my kill switch on/off has a connection problem...I have to wiggle it to start bike..but main problem is it dies when Im riding on hiway..then I pull over and it starts after I wiggle kill switch

The kill switch is basically your ignition wire to ground. in stop position, the ignition wire is grounded. I think you should have a look inside the switch.

Poulan chain saw 295 pro.

Hi pietras 1,
My name is Dennis and I would like to help but what I think may be a problem, has to be confirmed visually, so I can only give you a guess where I'm going with this. The kill switch is a ground wire for the ignition so the magneto current will not jump the gap at the plug. If the ground wire is disconnected from the kill switch the ignition will not be grounded out then you request it to be grounded. Now if this wire that is disconnected is entangled with the rod that connects the throttle to the carburetor that could be the reasonthe machine is a run-away. Look at the linkages in the area ofthe kill switch and see if this makes sense.
Please rate the solution because I depend on you for your rating to help me learn toassist correctly.
