You might want to look on the Radio Shack site to see if there is a possible reset for this unit and or the owner manual, Having been there myself from time to time sometimes there are bulletins for certain problems as well.
Could be that you wore out the volume knob, or may have turned it too far in either direction. If its the knob itself then depending on your experience working on electronic equipment and the ability to get a replacement knob you can maybe fix it yourself or may have to send it into Radio Shack for them to repair it.
If the knob turns real easy you probably have a worn out knob.
The linked article below indicates that the PRO-95 and other non-digital Radio Shack scanners are not capable of rebanding to provide coverage of the revised Motorola systems. For more information you should contact your local Radio Shack store.
The battery pack for your scanner, Radio Shack item 23-288, is out of production and I could not any source that still carries it. You can, however, power the scanner using six size AA batteries. The black battery holder that came with the scanner is for standard, non-rechargeable, alkaline batteries. The yellow battery holder is for rechargeable NiCd or NiMH batteries. If you don't have the AA holders you should still be able to pick them up from Radio Shack. BillB
Sounds like your AC power supply (wall wart) is dead. You can purchase one directly from Radio Shack (they may have to order it) just by telling them it's for the 433. You can also purchase a compatible power supply from UnidenDirect.com (Uniden made the 433 for Radio Shack), or you can find one on eBay. The output specifications for the power supply are 12VDC, 500mA minimum, center (tip) positive.
