It sounds like the bolt goes through the jacket some times they do in witch case you need to seal the bolt boss with silicone or urathene just make sure you clean it good before you seal it

1996 Bronco manual transmission hard to shift

You have a m5 (mazda 5 spd) transmission. Same thing that is in my 96 f150 4x4.

Ford had a problem with the slave cyclinders on thoes trannys. The slave is mounted inside the bellhousing and wraps aroung the input shaft, eliminating the need for a fork.

I am willing to bet my next paycheck that you have brakefluid inside the bellhousing.

Ford has a revision on that slave cylinder. because there is no dust boot on it, clutch material gets to the seal and tears it up, and because of the heat the seal will fail.

Replace your clutch, Flywheel (will have brake fluid burned into it), Slave cylinder, and possibly the line going to the slave (sometimes the realease locks up).

Make sure you get the slave from FORD, it is around $100.00, about 2x as much as anyone else but well worth it. I have not found anyone but ford make it with the boot and upgraded seal. If you get one from a parts store it will only last about 3 months. I tried, first one went out in 3 months, had it warrentied, then second only lasted 2.5 months. I finnaly brokedown and paid the extra for a FORD and it at 11 months it is still going strong.----------------------------------------------------

When I start to drive my ford explorer the over drive light O/D come on and start to flashing. How I can fix the problem?

he overdrive off light flashing indicates that a problem with your
transmission has been detected. Take it to the dealer or a transmission
shop and get it checked out. If you continue to drive the Explorer with
the O/D OFF light flashing you can possibly damage the transmission.

Ford has issued a TSB on this problem. Has to do with a transmission oil pump defect and repair procedure.
Article No.: 97-22-4
Date: 10/27/97
Transmission - A4LD, 4R44E/4R55E, 5R55E - Torque Converter Slip - Diagnostic Trouble Code (Dtc) 628 Or P0741 Stored In Memory
Ford:
1985 to 1993 Mustang
1987 to 1988 Thunderbird
Lincoln-Mercury:
1988 Cougar
Light Truck:
1985 to 1990 Bronco II
1985 to 1997 Ranger
1987 to 1997 Aerostar
1991 to 1997 Explorer
ISSUE:
Some vehicles may experience excessive torque converter slippage, torque converter not engaging, or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 628 or P0714 stored in memory. This may be caused by damage to the fluid pump support seal and/or to the groove on the pump where the seal is located.
ACTION:
Inspect the fluid pump seal for damage. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Follow normal diagnostic procedures as listed in the appropriate Service Manual.
2. Inspect the fluid pump support for damage. If damaged, also inspect the fluid pump support seal groove on the pump.
3. If the groove is damaged, replace the pump.
4. If the groove is not damaged, replace the fluid pump support seal with a redesigned Seal (F77Z-7L323-AA). Refer to Figure 1.
5. Do not replace the torque converter unless it is damaged or fails the criteria listed in the appropriate Service Manual and/or refer to TSB 96-26-12.

I overfilled my transmission fluid on my 96 taurus gl, now it won't shift into gear. Did i blow the trasmission?

It is probable that you blew out the seals and will need your transmission repaired. You can try to slip a small hose down the dip stick tube and draw out the extra fluid, there is a slight chance that your transmission will work if you get the fluid level back down where it should be.

Need to replace supercharged engine and trans. in a 96 Riviera

Faster and safer to drop the whole unit from the bottom with the cradle. Replace the supercharger snout bearing and seal before you install the replacement engine and the supercharger belt. Also replace the boost valve to your transmission just to ensure your getting the proper transmission line pressure throughout your transmission.
Thank you for using fixya and be safe
