SOURCE: Car stereo crossovers

you should be able to remove the passive in-line crossover, but since it is blocking everything below 3500 hz, there is no need. leaving the passive crossover in place will also help protect the tweeters if something fails in your setup as any amped frequency below 3500 can seriously damage them.

SOURCE: How do you set this stuff?

Need more info..
How many amps and their RMS rated power.?
If one amp, how many channels + individual power for each channel?.
Two crossovers set at the same freq.is redundant and likely to cause more problems.
Do the front speakers have their own X-over? whats the X-over point? and what is their freq. response (total) are they separates
Rear speakers same question.
I'll point out that you cant hear below 20Hz unless your a whale and very few instruments go that low except organs and synthasizers.
The subsonic filter merely block the lower harmonics from eating up amp power.
Their is no universal setting. all systems are different, as are cars, interiors, ears, windows up or down, noise floor, etc.
A RTA helps with the basics but you will still have to tune by ear,
Good sound is difficult enough to achieve,
Great sound is trial and error and very time consuming.
Sorry no simple answer here. Find a good installer ,preferably with sound judging experience,
It wont be cheap, but if you have enough money invested in the system, Don't skimp. or all you'll have is bragging rights
Best of luck, Sumthin

How do I tune my KICKER 08ZX1000? I have the amp running to alpine type r 12 inchs at 2 ohms but I don't know where the bass boost , gain, and crossover knobs should be pointing or what one to turn up...

To start, turn the gains on your amp all the way down. Bass boost should be off (this us used if you listen to your subs at low volume, the boost will heat your amp up quick if you use at high volume). Then turn the volume on your headunit up to 3/4 full. Make sure the filter on your amp is on low pass. The crossover point should be at it's lowest too. With all these in place, you can begin turning up the gain. You will have to decide at what point to move the crossover point. Since there are different styles of music, you will have to listen to where you feel notes are "dropping off" from the music. Adjust the crossover point to your liking, but remember that subs were made to reproduce low frequencies. Hope this helps

How do i wire the crossover on the dxd210/213

If the crossover is made to accept speaker level input from amp then.....Amp/head spkr output + to crossover + input. Amp/head spkr output - to crossover - input. Crossover midbass + out to midbass spkr + input. Crossover midbass - out to midbass spkr - input. Crossover vari-tweeter + out to tweeter spkr + input. Crossover vari-tweeter -3 or -0 or -6 out to tweeter spkr - input. You have to choose for your preference. 0db makes the tweeter respond normally. -3db mean 3db lower in volume...and -6 means 6db lower in volume. Choose based on your liking.

They also try to play the bass

a crossover cuts the certain tones out of the sound.example: the high side cuts out low and mid tones,or the mid side cuts out high and low. The only problems this could be is that the crossover is not set right or not wired right. These speakers should be plugged into the high side of the crossover. If wired right and set right then your crossover is no good.

I have a Kicker ZR360 CLASSIC AMP that puts out very little sound until I push on the crossover module. Is something wrong with the crossover module or a connection on the amp itself?

THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FEMALE CONNECTOR THAT IS SOLDERED TO THE PC BOARD THAT ACCEPTS THE CROSSOVER CARD. IF THE CROSSOVER IS PUSHED WITHOUT CARE, IT EVENTUALLY STARTS TO HAVE POOR CONTACT. THE CONNECTOR MUST BE REPLACED. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND MY ADD FOR REPAIR UNDER ZIPCODE 70360. I AM NEW TO THIS FORUM AND DON'T YET KNOW HOW TO LINK TO MY ADD ON THIS SITE. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND IT BY SEARCHING MY LOCAL ZIPCODE THOUGH. LET ME KNOW IF I CAN BE OF FURTHER ASSISTANCE......V

2 channel amp to 6-6x9 wiring diagram

Hello magoocsl,

Yes, with the use of 2 high-pass and 1 low-pass crossovers, that Kicker amp will operate in what they call stereo and mono simultaneously (SAMS). You'd run 4 of the 6X9's in mono. Wire them in series-parallel with a low-pass crossover on the positive leg to the amp. The amp would see a 4ω load. The other two 6X9's would be wired as stereo, one to each channel with a high-pass crossover. Again, the amp sees a 4ω load.

Here's a link to the appropriate wiring diagram. The diagram is on page 5. Just substitute your 4 6X9's wired in series-parallel where they show the "mono" speaker.

Hope this helps.

I have a kenwood head unit with 3 rca outputs, front, rear and sub.my crossover is a kicker kx3 and it only has front and rear in and front, rear and sub out.my question is how do i hook up the crossover...

No. I would recomend running front and rear to the crossover. Use the sub out on the deck so you have total control of subwoofer output at your fingertips. Your deck should have at LEAST an 80hz crossover built in. Any further fine tuning can be done at the sub amp.

As long as the crossover keeps the frequency going to the tweeters within a safe range (I'd say about 500hz+, read the box or look it up by model number) they should be just fine. That is what the crossover is for.

How to wire in a cross over

You didn't say if it was active or passive, but here is both:

Passive crossovers are easy to install. By definition, the only type of connections they require are to your speaker line. They typically get installed between the end of the speaker wire and the speaker. Connection should be fairly simple, just like hooking up the speaker itself.

Now F-Mod crossovers modify the audio signal before it is amplified. They accept the patch cord from your receiver on one end, and then plug directly into the preamp inputs on your amplifier. They are also easy to install, and don't require additional wiring.

An active crossover requires a little more work. You have to connect 12-volt power, ground, and a turn-on lead. The active crossover gets installed between your receiver and your amplifier. A lot of active crossovers have both speaker-level and preamp inputs, so they can usually work with either type of connection. The outputs will be preamp connections to your amplifier. Hope that helps.
