Spark caused vaccum to turn off

Some vacuums have a reset button you can push. Some have a fuse in the power line that may have blown. You will have to follow the power all the way through the vacuum checking the voltage at each switch, connection, etc. I often unhook the power & neutral wires from the motor and hook up a power cord with connectors on the end directly to the motor to make sure the motor is good. You must be very knowledgable with motors, switches, electrical testing, etc. If not this repair is best left to a professional.

I had my bosch 1400 W 12 amp vacuum plugged in and it blew a fuze so I reset the home fuze box and went to plug it in and it sparked and blew the fuze right away. The plug was very hot to touch. I am...

Often if the plug or cord is a problem, it can be seen. Look carefully at the plug, are the prongs straight? Is the cord damaged where it enters the plug? Is the cord damaged where it enters the vacuum? If the plug was rotated, it is possible that the wires inside the cord may have frayed insulation and are making contact with each other.
If it is the plug or the plug end of the cord, you can get a new plug at Home Depot and replace your old one.
Also, if you have a switched outlet or switched multi outlet extension, you can shut the power to the outlets off, plug in the vacuum and turn on the switch so you are not near the plug when you plug it in to test it.

When you plug in the vaccum it sparks from the outlet

If it trips the breaker, you have a short somewhere from the cord to the motor. If not, be sure to wait until it's plugged in before you turn the switch on. Turn it off before you unplug it.

Miele Red Star, small spark at outlet, no power to vacuum

The vacuum has a standard tube internal fuse. If you are lucky that is all it is. See the site http://www.sannerud.com/house/miele.html for instructions on how to open it up.

hope that helps

This Model likes to shoot electrical sparks between the plug and wall outlet when plugging in. I'm afraid I'm going to burn out an outlet.

This sounds might hazardous! Worry less about burning out an outlet, and more about the risk of electrocuting yourself!
There's an electrical short-circuit somewhere, and the first place to look is the flex. Flex often gets damaged, usually just where it leaves the plug or where it enters the machine, especially if it's been pulled a lot. Damage is not always visible externally. I'd get it looked at by someone competent to deal with electrics. Better safe than sorry!

Sparks from the Kirby Motor

1. Do you think this may be the problem?
YES

2. How come it continues to rotate?
Motor armature consists of multiple coils and just some of them burned so even though it keeps spinning it does not function properly.

3. Do I need to replace the armature?
We have switch replacement instructions HERE and they will take you as far as accessing the motor. We do not have motor assembly instructions yet but if you get that far - motor is not that hard to reassemble. You may have to spend some time getting tolerance ring back in and make sure you install finger spring properly.

Good Luck

Will not start again.

If the cord sparked, then it is bad and needs replaement. If it sparked at the plug end, then replace the plug.
