Question about Sony 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Memory Card

1 Answer

I can't delete files from my memory stick on my cell phone

I just purchased a used cell phone that came with a sony memory stick pro duo. All of the previous owner's files (videos, audio recordings etc..) are still on the disk and they will not delete from the phone. I have no prior knowledge of how memory sticks work... and obviously I have no idea how to delete these files.
I read somewhere that I need a chip reader?... and forgive me if I sound ignorant (which I am when it comes to this!) what exactly is a chip reader? Is there any way of deleting these files without having one of those?
ANY help is greatly appreciated!!

You need to go into the media folder on your phone and then look for option to go to card, then when you are in the card folder look for options, then hit options and look for option to format card, hit format and it will probably give you a message saying are you sure because if you do this it will delete all the files on card, hit YES! and then it should delete all the files and be good to go!!

Camera keeps telling me to reinsert the memory card. I've tried to new cards. When I put the memory card I was replacing because it is full, it goes back into the camera just fine.

As a last resort you could copy the full card to a computer and then delete the pictures on the card and use that again.

Here is the error list from the camera manual.
This is all I can suggest from here.

    • 1 Visit the Sony Support site (see Resources) and download the Sony memory card software. You will need to specify your operating system. Save the file to your desktop.
    • 2 Double-click the downloaded file to launch the installer.
    • 3 Follow the onscreen instructions to install the Sony memory card software. Restart the computer after completion. Once the computer starts back up, it will recognize the Memory Stick Pro Duo when inserted into the computer's memory card reader. You can browse the files using Windows Explorer or the installed x-Pict Story software.

Memoy stick pro dou and my p900

SE P900 does not support memory stick pro duo. it' s only support MEMORY STICK DUO (w/o PRO). i have the same problem too. my p900 only live with 32MB MS DUO and there are no more MS DUO in my city (even SE's service center)
if you wanna use your MS DUO PRO, then you'll need to upgade to P990i or P1i. that's much better then P900i (newer OS, more ROM, new keypad, plus WiFi) :D

Importing data from stick to computer - deleting data on stick

Yeah, all you have to do is delete all the pictures on the card. It's easiest to do on your computer, not the camera. Just put the memory stick back into your computer and find all the pictures and select and delete them. If you've already transfered them to your computer then don't worry about it. If you delete the photos off the stick, they will NOT be deleted from your computer so just go ahead and do it.
