Question about Philips 42PF7220A 42 in. Plasma Television
My TV went out of warranty and within three months got this problem of hearing static noise with no pictutre and then it shuts off, restarts and then starts bllinking the Red LED 5 times. If I unplug the TV and restart the TV then it works for another 3-5 minutes and then same thing.. Static, blank screen, restarts and red blinking lights (5 times).
While it was on warranty, I did replace the board with the cable card insert. Though after replacement I never could get to check it with a cable card but I think it could be that board. Help appreciated..
I did talk with Philips couple of times but they always tell me to go to authorized service centers which wants $189 just to look at it. The TV has been lying around for 6 months since I bought a Sony as a replacement. But thinking of fixing the Philips on the cheap on my own.
Any help appreciated:
Fresh start of a good night cooling
TV will run fine for about 17-20 minutes
Then suddenly you hear static along with losing the picture
Then the TV shuts off and then restarts on its own
And then within couple of seconds red LED starts blinking with a series of 5 blinks.
I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.
