I'm one of many who have had problems with the battery exhausted signal one gets with Nikon cameras, even sometimes with freshly charged batteries.

Yes. It sure could have caused the problem. You didn't say which Nikon camera you have, so consider this a general answer. NMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) batteries are rechargeable and alkaline batteries are not. When your camera is set for rechargeable, the recharging circuit is activated when your camera is plugged into the wall outlet. When the camera is set to alkaline, the charging circuit is disabled. Therefore, if you had the camera set to alkaline and you used rechargeable batteries, you batteries were never getting charged. Since your NMH batteries were in a discharged state, your camera gave you correct information.

Which batteries to use for hand set.rechargeble or otherwise

use the same type of rechargeable batteries it came with. not all rechargeable batteries need the same type of charger. make sure the charging station is plugged in, and see if the charge light is on on the phone. phone light should lite up should when placed in the charger. if not... see if the plug in transformer is putting out the needed voltage, center of plug is "+" if dc voltage. also make sure that plug in into the bottom of charging station tightly. also make sure the batteries if separate cells are in the phone correctly. springs go to the smooth bottom end which gets inserted first.

My computer is not charging and i dont think its the battery maybe a lose connection or broken not allowing a flow to the battery

I understand that the Notebook battery is not charging. The information is model specific as there are power management software in most of the computer. This power management software can to set to disable the battery charging. However, the general steps is to remove and reinsert the battery and make sure that the power is reaching the notebook from the wall outlet.

You may revert back with the model for more information.

Battery status incorrect

This recalibrate's the battery.

Charge the battery completely. Monitor the battery indicator, which is usually found that the bottom of your computer screen, to check if the battery is already fully charged.

Plug off the power adapter and use the laptop until the battery is completely drained. To drain the battery faster, run several programs at once and keep the contrast of your screen to its highest levels. Turn off all power-saving features as well. Turn off sleep mode.

Make sure that the battery is totally drained by waiting for your laptop to shut off or go into sleep mode automatically because of very low battery charge.

Plug the power adapter again and charge the battery again completely. Once this is done, restore the power-saving features and adjust the contract settings of your screen to normal.

My Toshiba's laptop's sleep and charge USB port

It's possible to fix. First go to device manager and you should see something like "USB Root Hub". Double click to open it, go over to power management, and "Uncheck" "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power". Do this for all that say USB Root Hub. Next go to "Power Options" then "Edit Plan Settings" (accessible through "choose when to put the computer to sleep") and select "Change Advanced Power Settings". Next, make sure you do this in all of your power settings, but scroll down to an icon called USB settings. Expand the selection, then expand the "USB selective suspend setting". Choose, both on battery and plugged in if you want, to Disable the selective suspend. Finish and apply. Also, to confirm, you know that the USB device (IPod) but be plugged into the eSATA port, correct? It doubles as a USB port and is the only one capable of charging.

How to maximize battery life of a laptop

In addition to all these excellent suggestions don't plug your computer in with the battery installed every time you need to use it. Most manufacturers don't recommend uninstalling the battery (unplugging it) while using it. The truth is, though, this repeated charge and discharge cycle from plugging in your laptop will significantly drain the life of your battery because it is only good for so many charge cycles. So if you're in a situation where you don't need to use the battery unplug it and just use AC power. Also don't always run the battery completely dead when using it. It is best for modern li-ion batteries to be charged to full when they still have 15-20% power still left in them. About every 10 discharge cycles it is best to run the battery completely dead as this will reset the battery meter in the computer so that it can read the available charge more accurately.

Not charging when it says charging

I was going to suggest a recalibrate might do this

with some machines run the battery to flat then fully charge at full charge shutdown and reboot windows.

With some machines the same thing is done as follows:
Enter the bios and disable the automatic shutdown for low battery. Disable the automatic shutdown for low battery in Windows. Run the laptop until it just dies from the battery going dead.
Charge the battery. Re-enable the automatic shutdowns.

And I believe some even have options in the Bios to recalibrate.

If this doesnt work then could be a voltage issue in the charger (is it universal with voltage settings?)
if it is this and no settings that could have been moved to wrong voltage etc, then maybe need testing and replacing.

Hope this helps
