Question about Acer Aspire L100 PC Desktop

You asked me to clarify my issue with an Acer Aspire L100. My problem is, there is no video output from the system. It appears as if the onboard video has gone out. The unfortunate thing with this mini system, you cannot replace the video card. I was trying to find out if this is something common with this model and if there were any known fixes. I tried tanking out the memory, unplugging the HDD and removing the battery. Ofcourse, none of these tips worked.

    Am I missing something, where is the slot? This case is as small at a Wii game and there is no way a video card is going in it. I think you might have my system mixed up with a different one?

    I'm not sure what systems documentation you are reading. This mini box does not have any PCI slots. It is too small and the board looks more like a laptop board than a PC. The memory on the board is actually laptop memory. I think you have an inaccurate doc, again the size of this PC is about the size of a Wii.

    Yes, and Acer is a waste of time when your system is out of warranty. I just wanted to know if I could purchase another board and they want to charge me just to ask that question???? I do appreciate your follow up and persistence, but I think I'm going to purchase a new PC.

You do have 1 PCI slot in that system. So, you could purchase a video card and place in that slot. Since your video is on-board you'll need to disable in Control Panel - Device Manager. Good luck.

    According to your system's documentation, there is a PCI slot. Is there a removable cover ??

    Hmmm. I see. Obviously, I was mistaken. Have you checked the Device Manager to see if there are any hardware conflicts ??? I searched to see if there is such a device as a USB video card for a laptop, but that apparently doesn't exist. I'm figuring that your system is out of warranty.

Video card upgrading issues

Once the Video card is inserted the motherboard, it automatically selects the video card and at the BIOS settings just select the one with an AGP selection, then boot up the computer. Install the driver that comes with the video card. It might also ask you to restart... just select Ok then its done.

Why, when i try to install driver for vga card in a acer aspire L100 computer, the sistem is shuting down?

Please can you try the following

1) go to
2) Download and install the device doctor software
3) Once installed open it up and click scan, it will then scan your PC for the best driver
4) Download the driver (entitled VGA driver) and install
5) Restart and see if this cured the issue

My acer aspire l100 keeps shutting off. it sometimes will stay on for like two minutes but most of the time it shuts down after like 30 seconds. it works fine in safe mode. most of the time it shuts off...

this seems like a software issue . if you can not run your system but ift works fine in safe mode try to run a system restore from factory disks and see where that gets you,

Where is the power on button on the acer l100


if you have manual see in it on page 27/51 and if you dont have then here is the manual for you, see this page and u will see that the power button is on the front side at a corner...
click on pdf file named "Download the complet user guide" and after click that there a new small window will open and ask you to type code that is being displayed on the left side one by one...

L100 overheating

In most of the cases the cooling radiator inside the computer is full of dust, clean it as well as the fanblades and things will improve.

Try to find a place nothing is blocking the inlet on the back and the outlets on top and in the front, open the part which covers the usb and other connections on the front.
