Just asked the similar question as mine searches for automatic preferred network it says it is out of range while again I have 98 per cent on wireless it refuses which has the right code and detail we set up. So at least if you watch my answer to posted help maybe that will answer yours. Amilo notebook Atheros system but this may be a common to others listed as Fujitsu Amilo notebook Atheros AR5005G ... I know how they should work but Motorola had nightmares with this as did Vodaphone when I wrote them a graphics programme 1989 1990 as a short term (carphones), my work is hydrology soils Geology but I was taught Lotus macros by a great lady at Employment Initiatives as I never learned Algol and Fortran fully (punch cards days of JANET) and spent 20 years of success with hardly a computer in range except processing my salary and tax, which is where I wish I was now. Right have a look and get a free result, they may resolve both at once ... mine has a nine point code I do not recognise. I cannot disable and it worked right first day Broadband and after 78Mb updates it collapsed. Mike

A broadband Internet connection and wireless router are required. Follow the steps below to get connected.
  1. With an online-capable game inserted into your Nintendo DS, turn on your system and access the game's main menu.
  2. Access the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection settings. (These settings are typically found by selecting "Nintendo WFC" from the game's main menu. For detailed directions, consult the manual for the game.)
  3. At the Setup screen, tap "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings."

  5. Click on "Search for an Access Point."

  6. The Nintendo DS will search for any wireless networks within range. Once it is finished searching, it will display the names of all the wireless networks it finds.Look for your wireless network. (If you're not sure which is yours, or you don't see any wireless networks, click here.)
  7. If your wifi is password protected, it will ask you to put in your password. Otherwise just tap on your network name and hit ok, save settings, and then yes.

How to change your wireless network password. Forgotten wireless password.

Hi. Thanks for looking!

Due to the fact that many questions are being asked about routers and wireless networks I decided to put little tutorial together .

· How to change my routers password (forgotten password)

Since you forgotten your password and can not connect to wireless network you will need an Ethernet network cable in order to connect to router.

Before doing anything else switch your computer on and make sure that your router is on also.

1.
Connect Ethernet cable to your routers free port at the back and the other end to your PC/Laptop network port.
Once you get confirmation that you are connected to the network (you should notice this in the task bar right lower corner of the screen)

2.
Open your internet browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address box and press enter. If this don'ttake you to the site asking for username and password please do the following.Click Start and choose run (below search) type "cmd" in the box and press enter. This should start a command prompt where you need to type in "ipconfig" and press enter. This should show you information's about your network. Default gateway address will be an address that you need to type in your browser box.

3.
Once you get to the login page, provide your username and password. You should be able to find this in your manual for router but if you can't you can find it hear--->click hear.

4.
Please note that since there's so many router vendors instructions in step 4 may vary, but these are basic.-
When you logged in to your router settings page please find wireless tab and choose security. Get to the password box and change password to whatever you like.

5.
Remember to save changes before quitting. Now unplug your cable and try to connect to your network wireless, using your new password.

Bravo! You just completed password change.

If yes, Heres how to get the password.

Find your password on a Windows PC

If you have a computer running Windows that is connected to your wireless network, you can find the password by doing the following:
Windows 8.1: Find your password Step 1: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings.) Step 3: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap or click Search. Step 4: In the search box, enter view network connections, and in the search results tap or click View network connections. Step 5: In the Network Connections window, press and hold or right-click the network name, and then tap or clickStatus. Step 6: Tap or click the Wireless Properties button. Step 7: Tap or click the Security tab, and tap or click the Show characters check box. Step 8: The password for the wireless network is displayed in the Network security key field. Windows 8: Find your password Step 1: From the Start screen, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.) Step 2: Tap or click the wireless network icon d6916536-a5d6-48c3-9da5-a5e1b1911348.png?n=wireless-network-icon.png. Trying to connect a new laptop to my linksys wireless setup and I enter the WPA key and it says it is aquiring network address, but never does. What am I missing.

Stop and start over with Router Setup by using a paper clip to press router reset button. Now, with router connected via CAT-5 cable to a computer's NIC. On this computer, using IE or other web access, go to http://192.168.1.1 to access router web setup. Set the Wireless properties, such as SSID (Network Name) and Security properties, like WEP/WPA passwords. This password will be needed by all computers accessing this router's signal. At this point, your router should be putting out a signal identified by the SSID name, all other settings for the router should be set already to the point where it will work, like the IP addresses declared in the router setup. Best left alone, at least till it is up and running. It gets the network address from your Internet Provider, and they are the only ones that can give you an IP address.

When trying to connect to my wireless modem it can't get an ip ad

Is it a modem or a router ?
If it is only modem then only 1 computer will go online at a time. If you have any other computer online already then the second computer will not go online and it will not get IP address.

If it is a combination of modem and router OR if it router then you can open the set up page of the device and find out the password.
For this you will need a computer connected to the device.
Check the IP address and open the set up.

in connecting wirelessly to the router, we need to make sure the encryption on the router.

Access the router setup screen, check the IP address first of the computer.

Open IE type there 192.168.1.1 username is blank and password is admin.

once it is on the setup screen checked the wireless tab and look for wireless security, verify it and try to connect again.

in your wireless computer, right click wireless connection and go to view available wireless network, try to connect - input the network key if in case it is not asking you for it, click the changed the order of the preferred networks and then removed all the preferred networks there, then try to connect again and you will now be asked for a network try to connect and you should be connected then.

Laptop can't aquire IP address

This sounds to be a compatibility issue with either the wireless software or wireless card. Check to see if there are any updated drivers for the wireless card at IBM's support site. If there aren't any or the card still doesn't work after the updated drivers are installed, then you might try a different/newer internal wireless card, or a universal external wireless card for use with your home system.

Can't connect to internet

It sounds like the driver for the USB network device is not loaded correctly. So, you'll need to reinstall it from scratch. Unplug everything, install the software, then reattach the usb cable to the PC.

The other thing is, did you DISABLE the network adapter that was already in your PC when you added the USB network adapter? If not, you need to do that. If they are both active but only one is connected, the system could still be trying to use the other network adapter and tying up the resources in the process.
