Question about Fisher and Paykel Washing Machines
I have a WI815 top loader washing machine, cold water is coming in very slowly on wash and rinse cycles. If I turn the cold sink tap on next to the washer, it starts running the cold water into the washing ok. On a Warm water cycle or hot water in also works fine. Is this a cold water valve or solenoid problem? Very strange as it works fine when the tap is turned on????
IW Intuitive Eco.
Water valves have a rubber diaphragm that wares out
after some time,
So yes you are right water valves need replacing.

Check the inlet valve solenoid wires for resistance with an ohms meter. The cold and hot solenoids should have close to the same resistance. My washer had a weak solenoid causing the hot water valve to close after 4 or 5 seconds. While checking the solenoid wires for resistance with the ohms meter, I noticed the cold side had 51 ohms but the hot side only 8 ohms. Hope this helps.

You are better off swapping the valves over in the machine until you can buy a replacement valve. I've done this for a month or so until I replaced the valve. Works as long as you only use a cold wash and your cold water is not too cold as to make the machine want to add some hot. If it does this then simply press start to clear the fault.

SOURCE: Cold water valve not working
Sounds like either the water valve is bad, or the screen in the valve is clogged. Take the hose (cold) off at the valve and look for the screen to be clogged. If it is not clogged, replace the water inlet valve.

Testimonial: "Nice - I compared the screen inside the cold water valve to the hot water valve and it does look a little clogged. I'm not sure how to unclog it thou"
most likely cuase would be the inlet valve
you would need the complete model number to make sure you get the right part for that unit.

newer washers have a temp sensor and the washer is programed for around a 100 to 110 degrees F, depending on manufacturer, so if your washer is new it is doing what it is supposed to do, sorry.
