SOURCE: I have a 1978 Yamaha DT175E. It is runnig rough

Check the choke to see it is not stuck on.
Something is causing the bike to run rich as you said.
Make sure the throttle slide isn't stuck and is working ok.
Try a smaller size jet.

SOURCE: l50deto 2 stroke outboard stalling at high revs

fuel pump could be the cause but also the float in the carby could be not set at the right level and starve the motor at high revs .

If it's a 2-stroke, have those carbs cleaned...
Then check if he runs on all 3 cylinders.

I have just picked up a 1967 yamaha yl2 100cc bike, can someone tell me what grade of oil to run in the autolube system please?? Thanks

On a machine as old as this any present-day 2-stroke oil will outperform the original manufacturers specification.

I have a 1972 Yamaha R5,made into a three wheeler(ATC).What is the correct fuel/oil mixture??

The R5 had Autolube....which is automatic oil injection....no gas/oil mixing....there was an oil pump in the crankcase, with one cable from throttle running to the pump so pump stroke varied with throttle opening.....the oil tank for the injection oil was under the seat on the right side.

My topboy (2 stroke) motorcycle problem is overheating

is this a 2 stroke scooter? if it is, try to premix your gasoline. and try to test it. if it works, then your autolube has a problem. if it is a 4 stroke. try to check your coil. and try borrowing another coil and test it.

Loss of power...

hi kev,

thank you for using fixya.

i'm a 2-stroke fan myself, all my bikes are 2 stroke. with the issue you currently have, i would say that the culprit will be the following.

1. carb mixture for oil, air and gas. you may need to have this tuned making sure that the 2-t oil is not more than the gas.

2. body {background-color: #FFFFFF;font-family: "Verdana"; font-size: x-small;} p { margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; } overheating, there are many points for a 2 stroke engine to overheat even on in idle, one reason is too much oil or too little oil (transmission oil that is). when it overheats, the gas/oil/air mixture will be heated and too denced to burn, leaving it with low combustion and smokey burn.

best way to get through this is to check your piston and rings of any scratch for a possible blow by, and have parts replaced if possible. for the carburator, just set the timing and the tuning to 1:4:5.

should you have other questions, please let me know.

regards,

voodoo
