I've put in various SD cards and it says that the memory card needs formatting. I click on continue to format it and it says it formats, but then it won't read the SD card. Can someone tell me what's wrong with it?

SOURCE: new memory card will not format

You are probably using a 4 gigabyte memory card and your camera will only support a 2 gigabyte card. Get the right card and it will format properly.

SOURCE: We insert a memory chip into our Kodak EasyShare

Your camera is only supporting SD/MMC Cards (up to 2 GB) and KODAK SDHC Cards (up to 8 GB).
The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.
You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.1: Menu, Cam settings, Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.

What type and size memory card? The DX7590 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Why is my camera going round and round in circle when trying to format my memory card?

I'm suspecting that you are trying to use a new 4GB or larger SDHC card with your older model camera. Please note that your model camera can only use 2GB or less standard SD cards (and NOT SDHC). 2GB SD cards are inexpensive, and still available on Amazon.com if your local store no longer carries them.

To format a memory card, press the MENU button, use cursor-up/down to select Settings, press the OK button, use cursor-up/down to select "Format," and press OK.

The DX7590 works with MMC and SD cards. It does not work with SDHC cards. If you mean an 8GB card, then that's an SDHC card and will not work with the DX7590. The camera is limited to cards 2GB and smaller.

The DX7590 works with MMC and SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into SD slots, they are electronically incompatible and won't work. You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

I have an 8G memory card that I cannot get formatted for a kodak easyshare DX7590 from a cannon format. What do I do? I've put it in the camera and told it to format it but it won't.

Get an SD card.

The DX7590 works with SD (and MMC) cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card and thus will not work. You'll have to stay with cards 2GB and smaller.
