Why not buy one on ebay, it will be much more cost effective then buying the necessary test equipment etc so you can test what you built.

SOURCE: Recently bought Craftsman Lithium battery & charger that failed.

Sounds like your charger is only for NiCad batteries. With most brands, the new Lithium chargers will also charge the old NiCads, but the old NiCad chargers will not charge the new Lithium batteries. You will be very happy with the lithiums once you are able to fix the problem. As for Craftsman, buy Craftsman hand tools such as wrenches and sockets but I'd look elsewhere for battery powered tools.

SOURCE: will a nicd charger work to charge lithium-ion

no, I would not try this. You can charge a nicd battery on a lithium-ion charger but not the other way around.

SOURCE: can I use the ryobi

No. The P110 is for NiCad batteries. Any of the Li-Ion chargers like the P113 are backwards compatible and can charge either but do not try to charge Li_ion batteries in a NiCad or NiHi charger.

SOURCE: broken dewalt battery 18v lithium ion

When a Dewalt charger is showing a fast blinking red light it means the battery is no longer chargeable. It may be because of a bad cell or short inside the battery. Whatever the reason the charger will not charge the battery and it needs to be replaced.

Can a Ryoby Lithum battery can be repair or rejuvenate?

Yes. The first step is to open the battery and check the condition of the wiring for breaks, corrosion, etc. Also check the condition and voltage for the individual 18650 cells. Ryobi batteries are relatively easy to disassemble using available tools, see posting below.
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Cell+Re-balance+of+Ryobi+One%2B+18V+Li-ion+Battery+%28130501002%29/13286
Depending on the findings, some parts may need replacing. If you replace the 18650 cells, use new ones which are easily found on eBay.

Can you fix a lithium battery?

The Makita 18V LXT Lithium - Ion Cordless Impact Driver Kit Model BTD140 us the BL1830 battery, there are several types for it, 1.5Ah, 3.0Ah, 4.0 Ah. Maybe 5.0Ah battery for it will be available. And, the inside of the BL1830 uses the 18650 battery cell. If you have a good knowledge and skill about electronic, you can buy some 18650 cell to do it yourself. If not, I suggest you to buy a brand new one.

You can buy some original battery for replacement battery for Makita BTD140 Battery

Will the P110 charger charge a lithium ion battery

No, the P110, 18V NiCad battery charger, will not charge a 18V lithium ion battery. You need one of the dual-chemistry chargers. If you have the Ryobi ONE+ batteries, you can get the P117 charger ($30) or a charger with an extra battery (P126) from a store like Home Depot. A 6 battery charger and a 12V in-car charger are also available.

I wish that I had better news for you.

Cindy Wells
(who has the Ryobi 12V drill and charger, a few of the 4V tools, and a number of the ONE+ 18V devices and chargers. The single chemistry battery charger is not used much any more.)

Took the battery off of the charger and it was dead, will not charge, only charged a few times

Mike, Would need a bit more detail to give the best answer, but here are some general tips to point you in the right direction. Need to know if you get any LEDs on the charger or batteries, do you have other batteries you can use to test the charger/tool to isolate the problem (even the old NiCads)? Does this problem occur with one or both new batteries? Anyway, read below for some suggestions:

Lithium Ion batteries do not like to be fully discharged even if they are new. If you ran a tool until the battery fails, two problems can occur. 1. The circuitry in the charger and the battery itself senses a fault due to "too low" voltage in the cells, and prevents charging as a protection measure (prevents overheating a shorted cell). 2. You damaged the cell(s) inside the battery either due to sulfate build up or heat. If your Ryobi charger is flashing a red LED (no green) indicating battery fault,

I have found that removing the battery and reinserting it multiple times can help as the charger does a diagnostic when you first insert the battery. This test likely applies a small charge to the cells and analyzes the response, if you do the test enough, it can bring the cells back up to a sufficient level to allow the charger to accept it.

If the battery charger cycles normally but displays a full charge very quickly, the battery may be defective and not pulling any current from the charger, so the charger thinks it's fully charged.

If the battery charger does not sense the battery at all (no LED display) then the problem could be a defective charger, defective (open) battery or corroded/dirty connections (make sure no paint or dirt got into the charger port and no rust on the contacts).

I just bought the Lithium - ion batteries for replacement for my 18.0 volt ni-cad battery. when I put it (ion battery) in the charger (ni-cad charger) no lights come on. what's up?

Lithium Ion batteries don't charge the same way ni-cads or ni-mh do. You need a lithium ion specific charger to charge them. (Some chargers do multiple types.)

What Ryobi batteries p103 or p104 will a battery charger that came with my p100 batteries charge? Or will the charger work with these batteries?

If you have a P100 NiCad battery, the charger for that will not charge the new Lithium Ion P103 or P104 batteries. You need a specialised Ryobi Lithium Ion battery charger like this one

Ryobi 18V lithium battery won't charge

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. The yellow and blinking red indicate a defective cell. Since it has lithium cells and is that new any repair to it would be a waste of your time. Ryobi tools purchased in 2008 have a 2 year warranty. I am guessing you probably got it at a home depot and you should return it under the warranty. All new Ryobi tools have a three year warranty. Good Luck! and Thanks for using fixya!
