SOURCE: Belt replacement Hoover carpet cleaner

Hoover steamvacs don't use belts. If the brushes are not turning, pull the brush block out, turn the machine on and see if the square hole where the brush block was, is turning. If not then the turbine is bad. Sometimes you can take the turbine apart and clean it out. most times I have found , replace it.

SOURCE: hoover turbine replacement

first you must remove the dirty water tank then the nozzle window on top of the machine. (this is the clear piece that the dirty water is sucked through.) then remove all 8 screws from the bottom along with the 1 screw on the main housing. after all this the top housing will be snapped into the base at two spots in the rear of the upper housing. when these are loose the housing should be out. you will find the turbine in the front along with 2 more screws and 2 hoses that also must come off. attach new part and reassemble.
good luck!!!

Press the handle release kick-button with your foot, extend the handle all of the way back, and take a look at the gap between the base of the unit and the handle/reseviour assembly. You should see several black hoses attached to the base and running up into the handle assembly. One of them (the dirty water return hose) might be cracked. Turns out that might be a common problem with this model. We had the same problem.

Judging by the interference between the vacuum hose and the "dirty water return" hose, there is NO WAY those two hoses can exist together in that housing without causing the dirty water return hose can last for many full bends of the handle. We opted to not repair our unit, but you might be able to do it yourself for the cost of the part and several hours of your time. Otherwise, seek out your certified Hoover repair center for more info.

Before using tool
It may be necessary to remove air from
the system (“prime the pump”) so the
clean solution will flow to the tool. Follow
these steps:
1. Attach tool to hose and turn the carpet
cleaner ON.
2. Put the tool on a hard surface or
against your hand to block off the suction.
3. Wait a few seconds (can take up to
15 seconds). Then squeeze the trigger
and begin cleaning.

GOODLUCK!!!!

My Hoover Steamvac Widepath will NOT pickup the water after dispensing. I checked the hose inside the cleaner, there was a cut in the hose so I put electrical tape and completely sealed the cut. Still...

Hi, empty the recovery tank of the Hoover SteamVac if the cleaner fails to pick up dirt. Once the tank is full, many Hoover models have an automatic shutoff that stops the cleaner. If the does not resolve the pickup issue, check the hose of the machine and remove any blockage.

Examine the water tank if water does not dispense from the SteamVac. It could be empty and need of a refill, or you may not have locked the dispenser firmly in place. The detergent tank should also be looked at and filled if empty.

Take care

My upolstry ad=ttachment is not working no sucking up dirty water

Greetings from GoVacuum,

This is a frequent problem for the Hoover SteamVac models. What's usually happening is that the hose on the vacuum cleaner is damaged, and needs to be replaced.

You can verify this by reclining the handle of the SteamVac all the way down to the ground. Then take out the dirty water solution tank from the SteamVac. You can see where the hose connects into the steam vac, 9 times out of 10 the hose will be cracked right at the point where the end of the hose is connecting into the SteamVac, and needs to be replaced.

There are several different versions of this attachment hose, varying from model to model. If this is the problem,a nd you would like to know which hose goes to your specific model, please send me an email to chris.jones (at) govacuum (dot) com.

Also if this is not the problem, please just request a clarification for this page, and I can help you further diagnosis this problem.

Thanks,

Chris Jones
