Ipod classic 80 GB wouldnt allow me to load music.. now it wont appear in itunes either

I recently got a new ipod classic 80GB... i opened up itunes, plugged in the ipod and hit sync... it looked like it was starting to work... but then on the 16th song it stopped... i couldnt load any other songs or even remove the 16 songs that it placed on there.... so i tried to restore it to its factory settings... it says that it did this... then it automatically loads the ipod back into itunes after it restarts the ipod for the restore.. but now it wont even let me enter the name into the ipod... it just says it can not sync the ipod... please try restoring to factory setting.. but i just did this!!.. so i restore it to factory setting again.. and same result.. once it restarts it says cant sync ipod and that i should restore it...

sooo i restart my computer, open up itunes and now i cant even get my ipod to appear in itunes.. and when i goto "my computer" i can not access any information on the ipod i just receive the message "the file or directory is corrupted or unreadable."

i was looking around and noticed that someone mentioned that special characters like ' can cause problems.. there was an ' in the song name when the problem started.. but now i cant even get my ipod to appear in itunes so i cant test it....

anby ideas on how i might start correcting this?
thanks alot

My classic won't sync at all. When I plug it into a USB port a screen comes up on my ipod saying "connected" then within seconds it's replaced by another screen that says "ejecting"

It works fine on my son's PC and my wifes Mac. Just not on mine. I have disabled the firewall. Tried all the various USB ports. I know cable is fine cause it works on other computers. I have latest in ITunes and have service pak 2 with XP. So needless to say I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this. HELP!!!!

TUNE TOOLS WON'T READ MY 80GB IPOD BUT USED TO WHAT DO I DO ? TUNE TOOLS MESSAGE IS:(THERE WAS AN ERROR LOADING THE APPLICATION:JAVA.LANG.EXCEPTIO:UNNOWN MHOD...TYPE-102)

By any chance had you recently upgraded your ITunes to ITunes version 9 or higher? Tune Tools used to work fine for my Ipod Classic 80 gig, but as soon as I upgraded my ITunes to version 9, the Tune Tools 2 stopped working, and I got that exact same java.lang.exception error.

If you have updated to ITunes 9, there isn't anything you can do about it.

I can only put 4 gb of music on my 80 gb ipod classic before it crashes. It when i connect it to itunes and restore it, it appears to be working fine, but when i try to put more than a few gigabites of...

You need to format the ipod like a harddrive. Right now it is probably in fat32 (32 meaning 32 bit = 4,000,000,000 bytes of data, or 4 gb.) Try reseting your ipod in itenes.

Getting ipod to record music

Symptom When opening iTunes for Windows you may see the following error message:
"iTunes might be unable to launch or communicate with iPod or iPhone. For help repairing your operating system, click More Information." Products affected
  • iTunes for Windows
Solution This symptom may be caused by an issue with the digital signing of Windows XP drivers. First, update to the latest version of iTunes. You can download the updater here or in iTunes, choose Help > Check for Updates.
If the issue continues with the latest version of iTunes, try following the steps below to reregister several .dll files, which may resolve this issue.
  1. Quit iTunes.
  2. Highlight all of the following 10 lines of text that begin with regsvr32 and then choose Copy from the Edit menu of your web browser: regsvr32 /s softpub.dll
    regsvr32 /s wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 /s dssenh.dll
    regsvr32 /s rsaenh.dll
    regsvr32 /s gpkcsp.dll
    regsvr32 /s sccbase.dll
    regsvr32 /s slbcsp.dll
    regsvr32 /s mssip32.dll
    regsvr32 /s cryptdlg.dll
    regsvr32 /s initpki.dll

  3. Open the Notepad program by choosing
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad
  4. In Notepad, choose Paste from the Edit menu. Note: make sure that the text that appears in Notepad is the same as what is shown above.
  5. From the File menu, choose Save As.
  6. In the File name field type appleitunes.bat and save the file to the Desktop.
  7. Close Notepad and locate the appleitunes.bat file. It should appear on the Desktop with the icon shown below: 305999_1.jpg
  8. Double-click the file and you will see a black window appear on the screen for about a minute. Wait until the window automatically disappears and proceed to the next step.
  9. The appleitunes.bat file can be deleted at this time.
  10. Open iTunes.
Additional Information Because some malware may unregister the .dll files, make sure you have the most recent updates to your anti-virus software and then do a full scan of your files.
