Question about Samsung LN40A630 40 in. LCD TV
Feel the back of the tv does it seem to be running hot? Does it have a lot of dust? Do you have air flow around it or is it in a corner.... ? Maybe some components are wearing out like capacitors leaking on the power board. Maybe marginal, something like a large fan with a foam filter material could fix. Give me some feedback. Maybe we can extend the life a bit without significant cost.
Hi look at the vents at the back see if the are clogged up, if so you could use some compressed air to blow it out.these tv do run quite warm hope it helps

This is just a shot in the dark but it's possible that your power supply uses a full wave rectifying bridge made up of 4 diodes to convert the AC to DC. Check these diodes out to make sure they're not shorts or opens. You can use an ohm meter. They should look like a low resistance from their anode which is the + terminal to their cathode which is the - terminal and a high resistance the other way around. If your power supply has a little starter relay in it you can also check to see if the relay coil has been blown. It should look like a low value resistor. Unsolder and replace anything that doesn't pass these tests.

There two sections in power supply, one is the 5vdc standby which is always on, the second section are the 24vdc for backlight inverter board, 12v, 5v , this section get the command ON from the controller board. So you have to have 5vdc standby power supply working. Look at the connector for something like 5v-stby labelling, that the first palce to start.

It would be a lot cheaper if you just replace the two caps that have gone bad. Just get a cheap solder pencil from the store and about an inch of solder and you are in business.
The Power Supply Board is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.
Thaks for using FIXYA, BIG IRISH.

Did you find out if that would solve the problem? I was really excited to learn that all I needed to do was change out the capacitors but after installing 4 it continued to click. I to removed the cover to the and found the relay where the noise is coming from
