Hi, If the pin on the compressor is melted/broke off, the compressor is bad. If the unit is under five years old, check with whilpool and see if it still has a warrenty.
I hope this helps.
Please let me knwo if I can assist you further.

You will need to call a repairman. If you want it fixed, it will cost 3-4 hundred dollars. It is not an easy repair.

I changed clicks and relays but wires at the compressor burned, only fan runs but compressor still cant start, whats wrong and where is the thermostat?

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

Your problem is not your thermostat. In some models the compressor knocks out the overload relay. They relay could last a few seconds or a few weeks before the compressor knocks it out again. This is especially turn with the LG units.

You will need a multi-meter to check your compressor.

1.) Unplug your unit. Remove the bottom back cover.

2.) Remove the overload components to expose the 3 pins on the compressor.

3.) Inspect the pins on the compressor. Are they clean or are they damaged from heat (Steel melting).

4.) With your multi-meter, set the meter on the lowest Ohms. Read the Ohms between each of the pins. You will have 3 readings. One reading will be high and the other 2 readings will be lower. Add the 2 lower readings together. This value must equal the high reading within a few tenths.

I hope I am wrong. A new compressor depending on the model is $275-$450.00. Include a system filter for $40.00, plus new refrigerant $45.00 and the cost od an experienced technician $300.00.

I have a Maytag Model MCD2257HES - I replace the relay - the compressor runs but seems more quiet than before- I left is unplugged over night and it appeared to be working ok -made ice but the lower p

That is what is sounds like but let's check. An overload relay will fail due to wear, a short or a bad compressor will knock it out. There is a rare occasion you may purchased a bad overload relay, but that is rare. Remove the overload relay component and expose the three pins on the compressor. Measure the Ohms across the three pins. You will get one high Ohm reading and two lower Ohm readings. If the two lower reading add up to the higher reading the compressor is good. Make sure the green ground wire is securely grounded. It could nock out the overload. Check for loose connections. Replacing a compressor is a major repair. The cost is $600.00-$750.00. Rule of thumb; "If the cost of the repair is 1/3 or more of the purchase price of the unit, Buy new".

My whirlpool refrigerator with side by side doors model ED25RQ is running and blowing air but niether side is getting cold the frozen food is melting and the refridgerator food is getting warm.

It is possible you compressor is not running, I would look at the relay to the compressor as your problem, if you have a variable speed compressor, the board has failed. I would need a complete model number to verify which one you would or possibly need.

Is Refrig Compressor Bad or need another 3n1 Relay?

Good day,
Great pictures, but.......
Your start winding is burned out. Forget buying relays, the compressor is shot.
Did the 3 in 1 cause the problem. Maybe, but no way to test.

The disadvantage of a 3 in 1 is it's overload protector.
One it's designed for 1/4 to 1/3 horsepower motors.
Two, it does not sense the body temperature of the compressor. Bad.
Based on the locked rotor amps of your compressor, it looks like about a 1/5 HP motor. Far to light a compressor to use an overload as in the 3 in 1.

Don't feel bad. From your description of the first event, the compressor was probably going south anyway.

Thank you for using Fixya

Whirlpool gold refrigerator compressor clicks on for about 5 seconds then back off. The fan next to it was blocked when I opened the access panel. Unblocked it and it 3 hours ago and still has the the...

It's either the compressor start relay/ overload, or the compressor itself. If the fan wasn't running, the compressor would have got very hot and potentially damaged it. Sometimes you can tell if it's just the relay by taking it off and shaking it. If you can hear peices rattling around, it's a bad relay. If not you'll need to check the compressor. When you take the relay off, you'll see 3 pins. Use an ohm meter to make 3 readings. One will check the start winding, one the run winding and the third will check both. All 3 should be between 3 and 13 ohms. If any read infinite you've got a bad compressor. Then check each of the 3 pins to ground. If you read anything other than infinite you've got a bad compressor. Even if the readings are ok, you could still have a locked up compressor. You'll have to put on a new relay and if it still won't run you'll need a new compressor.
