Boot the computer normally. When you get a screen, go to System Preferences under the Apple Icon, left hand side of the menu bar. Go to start-up items and uncheck or remove the offending game.
The next restart should be normal. You could always delete the idiotic thing if it persists in taking over your Imac. Go to Applications, click on it and drag it to the trash. It might help to shout Die! Die! Die! as you do this.
Won't do a thing for the Imac but you might feel better.

Locks frequently and restarts sometimes all by itself. Parts of the screen regularly skews in triangular shapes.

  • Verify that the power outlet you're using is good and your power cable is firmly connected to the wall outlet-if using a surge protector, be sure that it's firmly plugged into the wall outlet. Also, try temporarily plugging directly into the wall outlet to eliminate any issue with the surge protector; plug a different electronic device into the same wall socket to make sure the socket works, and also try the iMac's power cable in a different wall outlet.
  • Make sure the computer's power cable is firmly connected to the computer.
  • If any external devices are connected to your iMac, disconnect them and try to turn the computer on again. If the iMac will power up when those devices are removed, but not when they are connected, contact the manufacturer of those devices for assistance.
  • Try resetting the iMac's SMC
  • Remove and reinstall the SO-DIMM memory modules, located in the bottom of the computer.
  • Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve

    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    4. Release the power button.
    5. Attach the computers power cable.
    6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

I have a Canon FS100 Digital Video Camcorder. I am attempting to download some video on to my iMac, but then I select "Connect To Camera" I get the message "No Camera Was Found". I have the camera plugged...

The computer is no longer detecting the camcorder for several reasons. It could be the ports on the computer, it could be the cable that you're using to connect the camcorder to the iMac, or it could be the camcorder itself.

Try connecting the camcorder into different USB or FireWire port of the iMac.

Try using different cable.

Try connecting the camcorder into different computer to test the device.

If all else fails, power cycle the camcorder by turning it off and remove the battery for about 10 minutes. Then turn it back on. Otherwise, contact the manufacturer for second opinion.

Hope these helps and have a great day!

IMac 10.4.11 all of a sudden only boots in safe mode

try resetting the SMC and the NVRAM. This occasionally stores the startup state and any keystrokes used during boot. Common issue with all intel macs. Resetting PRAM and NVRAM 1. Shut down the computer. 2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4. 3. Turn on the computer. 4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears. 5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time. 6. Release the keys. Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models. To reset the SMC on an iMac 1. From the Apple menu, choose Shut Down (or if the computer is not responding, hold the power button for approximately ten seconds until it powers off). 2. Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord. 3. Wait at least 15 seconds. The SMC reset occurs automatically once the iMac has been unplugged from the AC power source for several seconds. 4. Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time. 5. Reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer. 6. Press the power button on the back to start up your computer. Note: The iMac does not have a button on the main logic board for resetting the SMC, which eliminates the need to remove the computer?s cover to reset it (as required for some other models).

I also had the same issues. The cord when i would jiggle it out slightly then push back in would restart the computer. I truly wouldn't mess with it too much. What it was for me was simply giving it a dedicated outlet for some odd reason. However, to remove the back. Lay computer screen down on a towel. Lossen the screws, they do not come out, mine didn't. Remove the panel and that is that. The entire back did not come off fo me, jus the panel to add more memory.

Apple iMac 17 Model A1058 won't turn on

Re the light turning on for about 3 secs.
Does the computer make a 'start up' chime or any other tones?
If not, this could be for a variety or reasons.
Firstly you need to verify that the power supply is working. Remove all connections from the computer including the keyboard and mouse. Try to start up again. If the computer still fails to start up, you will need to gain access to the computers internals.
Lay the computer face down on a soft cloth to protect the screen. Undo the 3 silver screws on the lower edge of the computer. (one at each end and one central. These are captive screws.)
Lift the rear cover away from the main body of the computer.
On the Logic Board there are 4 diagnostic LEDs indicated by a yellow arrow on the board. To the left of these LEDs there is a small button. This allows you to power on the computer with the rear cover removed. Connect the power lead. LED1 should be 'ON'. If it is 'OFF' then you need to replace the power supply.
Turn the computer on by using the internal power button.(LEDs 2&3 should now be 'ON'. If LED2 only comes on momentarilty then replace the power supply).
Does the computer start up normally after pressing the internal power button?
- Yes: Press and hold the power button until the computer powers off.
• Unplug the power cord from the iMac, and reinstall the back cover.
• Return the computer to the upright position.
• Plug the computer back in, and press the power button to turn on the computer.
• Make sure the computer is starting up properly. If the computer will ONLY start up
from the internal power but will not power on from the power button on the back
cover, the power button on the back cover may be faulty.
- No: Reset the SMU.
• Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord.
• Wait 10 seconds.
• Plug in the power cord while simultaneously pressing and holding the power button
on the back of the computer.
• Let go of the power button.
• Press the power button once more to start up your iMac G5.
If the computer starts up normally then shut down and replace the rear cover.
If you feel uncomfortable about working on the computer, take it to a reputable repairer.
Hope this helps.

Playing PS2 on apple iMac

if the iMac is one of the computers with the slot-load drive (you don't load the disc into a tray before it goes into the computer), then placing a disc smaller than a regular CD/DVD will damage the CD drive and will be very hard to remove.

you could buy an external CD/DVD drive and then use smaller discs with the iMac.
