Question about GE Dishwashers
Getting 120VAC to case. When the door is opened to load the PDW9280 the inside panel reads 120VAC to ground. Wife got shocked twice. Any ideas or help to solve this problem? Thansk, Pete
It is probably getting energized through a direct short. Normally this would trip the breaker but sometimes installers take shortcuts and don't properly ground the the unit. Find the correct breaker in the main panel and turn it off (double check with your VOM). then pull off the lower cover below the door. you should see where the romex cable enters a small junction box. pull the cover off and pull out the wires and see if you find any nicks in any of the wires. while the wires are pulled out and not touching the j-box turn the breaker back on. see if you get any voltage on the inside metal case. if not then you know the source of the problem. if you still see a voltage check the motor and see if the outside of the motor case has any voltage on it. if yes then the wiring to the motor or the motor itself is faulty. Without looking at it my first guess is a hot or neutral wire is in direct contact with the metal frame. Keep in mind neutral wires can carry returning current on them and thus can shock you as well.

my wife shut the water off to the dishwasher and forgot to turn it back on and then used the dishwasher.
the heating element went on but there was nop water.
when we turned the water back on,the drying cycle does not work.i would think that the element needs to be changed or is there a relay on the computer board?
this is a two year old Jennair unit.

Are you trying to replace the microwave door or the GE dishwasher. Either way, www.applianceart.com (under the stainless steel section) has this roll of stainless material that you apply to your appliances. I saw it on the "Today Show." Its basically faux stainless. We put it on our refrigerator and it looks and even feels like real stainless steel. Its really cool. I think its called stainless foil or something like that. Also if you're looking for a stainless panel for your dishwasher they sell actual stianless panels there too.
